That is the question. So here’s the deal. My centerpieces are going to be a small collection of vintage bottles/jars that I have been collecting (yes I know we have all seen them but how freaking cute) and my flowers are going to be single wildflowers and stalks of natural cotton. That being said, I think it would be silly to pay a florist thousands of dollars when I am not even having real arrangements!
I have a friend-or who is an artist and photographer and crafter of all things adorable, who I am hiring for the day to arrange my centerpieces during the ceremony and cocktail hour. I was going to order bunches of wildflowers from fiftyflowers.com and the cotton from save-on-crafts.com. I think it will work out fine but am I taking a risk here? Will my flowers look bad if they aren’t fresh from the florist? I felt confident in my plan but am having second thoughts. Have any of you ever used wholesale flowers?

Hey! I saw you were looking for wildflowers, I am doing my own flowers for my wedding too! I am going to Bloomsbythebox.com, because my cousin ordered from them last year and everything came out gorgeous! Here check out bloomsbythebox.com’s wildflower pack….http://www.bloomsbythebox.com/pub/showvariety.cfm?categoryid=194 🙂

@LabDarling: I’m doing my own flowers, but I’m purchasing from Costco.

I’m going to wholesale! I think it depends on whether you are going to do your own bouquets or not. If you’re having a florist you should ask how much they would charge or if they could throw in the centerpiece flowers if you place them yourself. It’s worth a shot!

You could also look into the floral section of your grocery store. They tend to have way cheaper prices than a florist!
I am using sola flowers for my bouquets…They double as a bridesmaid gift since the flowers will last forever! And I won’t have to pay to have my bouquet preserved!
