I don’t think anyone HAS to speak.  I think most common is Father of the bride & best man…at least it was at most of the weddings I’ve been to. I’ve also been to weddings where the Maid of Honor spoke, the bride spoke on behalf of both of them, the groom spoke on behalf of both.  I think it mostly comes down to what you and your wedding party are comfortable with.

I am dreading this.  My MOH feels like she HAS TO talk.  Not that I don’t love her but she’s not a good public speaker, she has a lisp that comes out when she’s nervous, and speaches in general bore me. 

 

Any suggestions?

Yeah, I might just have to give in.

 

We’re getting married in Key West.  Totally looking forward to it!

I think its customary for the brides dad or both parents to give a speech, followed by the maid of honor and best man.  We didnt want to give a speech but the DJ forced us into it (after we told him the week before we werent going to do one!).  When it happened though DH was the one to speak 🙂
