Apparently the company isn’t doing so well financially and my role is non-essential. My employers have been pretty good about it, they’re giving me until the end of March non-taxed salary, and I can leave anytime. Actually that’s really great considering I’ve only been there a year. Because of that, I’m not planning on telling many people about it, hoping that I can get a job before the 10 weeks is up. It would only worry my family so I’m hoping it doesn’t come to that.
But I needed to tell someone so I’ve come here. I’m sure there are many of you in the same boat, so my sympathies. x

Aw, that sucks! Start looking for a new position, but it will help if you get a good review from your current job. What field do you work in?

@JenGirl: They’re said they’ll give me a good reference 🙂 I work in graphic design – very competitive and unstable field.

Aww bummer! I’m so sorry this happened, but hopefully you’ll land on your feet soon! I’m glad they gave you some severence too – that’s always helpful to fall back on shortterm.

@DarlingClementine: it’s nice that they are giving you ten weeks of pay! Good luck with the job hunt!

Great! I’ve heard there is lots of free land work in graphic design, so you probably have lots of options, which is nice. Good luck!
