Backstory: I work(ed) in home providing nursing care for children with disabilities. About 3 weeks ago, I was told I would be losing my job because of budget cuts. Since then, I have been working for the company part-time just waiting to be cut completely. So this is the beginning of the suckiness. However, I won’t have a hard time finding a new job.
A close friend of mine had mentioned that she needed somebody to take over the lease of her apartment. She was planning on breaking up with her boyfriend and moving to a cheaper one bedroom apartment. Fiance and I went to visit and absolutely fell in love with her place. It is a 2 story walk-up, has hardwood floors, has a front and back courtyard, it’s quiet. It was just perfect. We started buying things to go with the paint colours in this apartment, etc.
Today I went to visit her and she greeted me at the door in tears. She’s pregnant. She has now decided to stay in the apartment because it’s a 2 bedroom and she’ll need the other bedroom for the new baby.
I want to be supportive for her. But, I’m super bummed out.

Sorry youre having a bad day 🙁 It’s okay to be upset, you had your heart set on the apartment and now have to change your plans. Just don’t let her know you’re upset. You’ll eventually forget about it and possibly get caught up helping her plan for the new baby 🙂 cheer up!

If it makes you feel better, I got up this morning…. hit my toe on the shower (it’s now purple and swollen!), burnt my fingers on a plate (damn did that hurt!) and then broke the strap on my favorite bra!
Seriously though, we had something similar happen with an apartment. We found this awesome apartment, were ready to sign the lease, and then the real estate agent said…. ummm… I made a mistake… I thought you were ready to move in June 1, not July 1…so sorry, you can’t have the apartment anymore! It sucked majorly, but we ended up finding an even better apartment for cheaper!

Oh wow. This is one of the few times that i’d be super happy I lost my job just so I wasn’t the person pregnant with the child of a person I was breaking up with. Rough! Fingers crossed you find another job quickly and you find another place to live you love just as much!
