… While on his motorbike…. And no one stopped.
We decided ages ago to downsize to one car (mine) plus FIs positie bike (a honda CT110). He just rides it the 5 minutes to work and back each day.
Today, he was cruising along on his way home from work and someone, in a car, pulled out directly in front of him. the car hit him. The car sped away. FI dragged his bike over to the footpath.
I happened to be on way home too, saw him on the side of the road about 10 minutes after it occurred and stopped. A few minutes later the police arrived. Someone had reported it. But no one, not a single damn person, stopped to see if he was even alive. It was peak hour. On a main road. At that makes me both terribly sad and incredibly angry. What, you can’t take two seconds out of your life to see if the guy ON A BIKE, HIT BY A CAR is even ALIVE! That’s just so, so disappointing.
Luckily, FI has been riding for a long time. He did everything right and has walked away with a few scratches and brusises. But a second either way and he could have died. And no one stopped.
I suppose im im not actually wanting advice or anything, I just needed to get it out.

Wow, that is awful. I’d have been screaming at my FI if he witnessed that and didnt stop.
I hope he’s doing okay.

Ugh, how horrible! I don’t think I would ever be comfortable with my SO on a motorcyle. It’s not that I couldn’t trust him, it’s that I can’t trust others to obey the rules of the road.
About 9 months ago, I was walking home from the bus stop after I’d gotten off work. The driveways to my complex are very much sloped and it’s difficult to see anyone coming in either direction especially when there are cars parked on the street. Well a motorcyclist was driving and someone in a large SUV pulled out of our complex at the same time and the motorcyclist was killed when they collided. I saw the wreckage and where he died. It was so very sad.

@allyfally: thanks, he’s okay, just getting some special treatment at home 🙂
@beekiss: that’s awful! I’m sorry that happened and you witnessed it.. I’m feeling very, very grateful today. That is the exact issue I have. I trust him, but not others. He’s also into motor sport. Which I love, because it’s controlled. Unfortunately for me, he had road bikes since before we met, so it’s a part of the deal 🙁

I’m glad your Fi is ok & very sorry this happened.
I don’t blame you a bit for being furious that no one stopped to help.

What kind of asshat doesn’t stop for an accident, both the driver and the passerbys? Glad he’s OK.

Omg. that’s so horrible! I’m so glad he is ok. DH says be wary of pulling over for people on the side of the road but omg I would pull over!!!! If I didn’t realize til I was past then I’d at least call 911!!! 🙁

OMG that’s horrible! I can’t believe nobody stopped! I’m so glad your FI is okay. Are you sure you don’t want him to see a doctor just in case though?

@Brooke1226: I just clicked on an old thread to see where you’re from. I’m saddened to read this happened in Australia – but not surprised. It is disgraceful. Everyone should know you should stop and help after an accident (in fact it might be the law); and/or get the number plate of the car.
I’m glad he’s ok.

@Brooke1226: I would expect my partner to stop if he hit the person. If he didn’t, I’d expect him to call the police.
I am glad your man is okay!
