After today, I’m in a much better place than I was last week when I found out one of my friends was engaged after 10.5 months of dating her FI.
SO & I have been together for 4 years at this point and I mentioned to him last summer that I’d like to start browsing for rings this year. We originally intended to go in August, but thanks to some silly game we played where we could move the date closer or father away, today was the day. (I think the aforementioned engagement may have made SO want to make me feel better, since he went overboard & moved the date up 6 weeks in the past week, but I’m not complaining!)
We have very different tastes so I was expecting to need to convince him that what I liked was best. There were no cushions, which are what I really want, but near the end I saw a ring that had a cushion shaped halo and a super thin diamond band, which was exactly the style I thought I wanted. I love it just as much as I thought I would, especially considering that the centre stone wasn’t even actually a cushion. After we left the store, SO turned to me and said, “You know, the diamonds on the band didn’t look like I thought they would. I liked the way it looked on your finger.”
Going ring brosing for the first time was exciting enough, but I now know that he actually likes the style I do and that he thinks that’s what he’ll end up getting me down the road. We still have to figure out how big of a stone we’re going to get (I want a moissy, so price isn’t really going to be a major concern for the size of the centre stone), but I guess that means we’ll just have to go look again hehe.
We aren’t telling anybody IRL that we did this, but I had to share it with somebody and you ladies seemed like the perfect choice.
