I don't have a suggestion, but I just wanted to let you know I thought your token idea for the charities was a great idea! awesome. :-) Lets the guests have a 'say'!
OH.. what about getting a wooden dowel (thick 1-1.5") and have it sliced down into thin peices with a table saw? And then you can paint them how you see fit?

Hi ladies,
We are donating to charity in lieu of favors. We would like to have 2 charities that guests can choose from and will deposit a token into. Our MC will announce how much has been donated to each charity at the end of the evening. However, I am looking for approximately 600 tokens and am having a hard time finding any. They don't need to be great quality-- cardboard is fine-- think back to pogs or to the cardboard tokens found in games.... just something that will represent a coin/token for the MC to count at the end of the night.
Does anyone have any suggestions on where to buy some or how to make some very cheaply?
I found these "kindness coins" but the color scheme isn't exactly what we're going for; but they might work. http://www.orientaltrading.com/kindness-coins-a2-39_1655-11-1.fltr?xsaleSku=39/1569
