i have this same problem. My sister is a lesbian, and is putting on a dress for the first time in 8 years just for my wedding!!! I have no idea what to get her. I hope we get some good ideas :)
Haha, my sister is a lesbian as well! She actually just came out about 6 mo. ago. My family is supportive of her. I know she is sacrificing her comfortability for my wedding day, so I am looking forward to some good ideas as well!!
Something for her dorm room or that she can use in college? A mini-fridge or microwave? An mp3 player?
I'm a massive tomboy, and gifts people give me fall into one of three categories 1) sports tickets (though occasionally play tickets, since I like theater a lot), 2) liquor and 3) useful things (small appliances, etc).
Gym membership (enrollment), sports tickets, golf lessons with pro, shooting lessons, camping equipment.
music tickets or a music giftcard? that's a pretty standard gift for anyone.
Hey, those are some pretty great ideas! I think she would really like shooting lessons or play tickets. I was just hoping to give her something she could hold on to and remember for a long time. Not that I think she'd really mind...maybe I'm just trying to give her something I'd want...hmm.
maybe the jersey of her favorite athlete? i'm a tomboyish kinda person. i would love it.
Tomboy weighing in here: I totally second the sport tickets, shooting lessons, or custom sneakers.
I would also suggest something music related like a custom guitar strap (I play guitar), or something sport related (my tomboy BM friend is a big cyclist) like a necklace with a bike on it or a bike tire belt (on Etsy).
I'm not sure how much you want to spend, but maybe a nice leather bag that she could use for years to come. It doesn't have to be girly like a purse (I'm thinking distressed leather messenger bag/motorcycle style bag) but it could be something she'd appreciate and get a lot of use out of. Good leather bags are hard to come by when you're on a college student budget and I think most anyone would appreciate that, especially if it's a style to her liking.
I know a common BM gift is a tote. I know you said the other BMs are getting necklaces, not sure if you've considered totes, (maybe the other brides can use this advice) but it would be a cute idea to have totes for the BMs and an athletic bag or draw string bag for her. Fill it with sporting equipment, tickets, hair bands/sweat bands, arm band for the ipod, ect... it'd maybe put her on the spot but if she has a good sense of humor she'll love it!
Great ideas in this thread, love it.
For non-tote bags, I really love this one, if you're in Canada.

What about:
- a sweet pair of shoes
- a nice leather wallet
- a flask
- a sweet pair of headphones
- piercing jewelry
We are doing the same gift for our groomsmen and bridesmaids as there all active outdoor adventure guides or artsy. The shop where ordering from is called bmused on etsy and she makes the coolest belt buckles and each member of our party we will select a different unique item for them. There are litteraly hundreds to choose from plus she does custom orders.
@kerensa: If your gonna go knife I would go leartherman there safer and have more features.

My sister is the definition of a tomboy. She is 18, in her first year of college, and basically a boy, haha. She's doing me a solid and wearing a dress and girly hairstyle (for her SHORT hair!!) but I want to let her know how much I appreciate it all. I was thinking of a cute necklace for the rest of my girly bridesmaids, but I want something special for her to enjoy forever and for always. I cannot get in the frame of mind to think what she would like. Please help bees!
