- Wedding: October 2012
My fiancé and I have not decided yet between our final two options for venues (one in one city and one in another). However we are both leaning towards one. This venue provides us with everything we wanted: indoor/outdoor space, location, availability, price, open to decor changes, non-exclusive catering options. However the core look of the venue is more…fieldhouse? I don’t mean that as a negative thing at all. However it definitely doesn’t fit with either of our personalities. I am originally from Texas (where the venue is) but I am not a country girl so playing up the country-ish aspect isn’t really an option. Neither of us are very vintage/antique-inspired as well, which would go great with the space. I plan on incorporating a lot of different furniture to create dimension and texture in hopes to diminish the “fieldhouse” effect.
Any suggestions on decor/arranging/color palettes to help create an environment that reflects us better? We like some touches of “rustic elegance” (love the big ol’ farmtables) as well we are both city-people (love the Chicago and Austin skylines – probably going to incorporate them in our invitations) looking for a casual, comfortable and fun affair. I am a fan of any DIY or other budget-mindful options.
