Hi bees! I am feeling a little behind, but every time I try to focus on one aspect I get overwhelmed with all the things I need to figure out! Ok vent over, on to the question. I am thinking of black and eggplant for my colors with touches of silver(but I don’t know where). I am just worried that its going to be too dark. The way the details are looking right now, it would be black floor length dresses for the girls, black tuxes with eggplant vests/ties, and eggplant flowers. The tablecloths would be black, chairs are already black(not covering) and some sort of the eggplant flowers in the centerpieces. Is this way too dark? Would you do it a different way? Do any of you ladies have any pics of your very dark colored receptions?

@Crazeebee3: The first thing I thought of was a black tie affair. I know someone who was married in a black tie wedding, everything (I mean everything) was black and white. I think it’s very elegant! Perhaps a lighter tint of the eggplant would lighten it up a bit, but not stray from your original scheme.

I think that could be very nice looking. You could do silver bowls to hold the eggplant colored flowers and maybe silver candle holders with candles around the centerpieces? Silver chargers at each place setting. I love that idea.

@hotteatherapy: was there a lot of white too though? The only things that would really be white would be my dress, fg dress, and the plates on the table….

@Crazeebee3: Not really. Black tablecloths, dresses, the only things that were white were the dress and I think some balloons but that was about it.

@jny1179: I was thinking of the chargers but they are expensive. It would be $200 to buy them or $300 to rent them. And silver bowls is a good idea! that would brighten my tables a bit

@Crazeebee3: maybe use silver plates or mirrors as the base for your centerpieces to bring some light to the table.
You could have silver chargers on the tables, use white or silver napkins, have silver table numbers.
There will be lots of places to put in pops of bright – I think you’ll be okay 🙂

@Crazeebee3: I think it could look very elegant. Is it an evening wedding?

I think black everything would be overkill. I would suggest making the tablecovers plum, like

@Crazeebee3: Since you mentioned silver as an accent color, you could add silver sashes to the chairs to break it up a little. We had black tablecloths with silver chair covers and napkins. I think your colors sound gorgeous!!

I did a black wedding with eggplant and it turned out looking very classy and not too dark. I threw splashes of silver to lighten things up a bit.
