It’s not too early to start planning and researching, but probably a few months too early to book anything. Airlines and cruise lines adjust their prices frequently, and often you actually pay more when you book a full year in advance— they know that someone who is planning that far in advance is locked into their dates and destinations, so they try to get top dollar from you. The prices tend to come down when it is closer to the travel date, because that’s when more people are firming up their plans. Shoppers then might know they want to go “away” but not really where yet, so they are more flexible in their plans and more likely to shop for a good deal.

Anyway for a cruise I think you’ll get the best prices about 90 days in advance.

We already have a basic idea of where and when we are going on our honeymoon.  How are you supposed to save $$$ for the honeymoon if you don’t know where you’re going?  As far as booking we are waiting until it gets closer before we book flights, hotels, etc…

@KRutter0:  My parents are avid cruisers and I know that if you book a cruise and at any time between booking & sailing the price for your cruise date/destination/cabin category etc. goes down so long as you contact the cruise company and tell them about the price difference they will give you the cruise for the lower price and apply the remainder to your shipboard credit.  So yes you will get locked into the price that you booked the cruise at BUT the amount applied towards shipboard credit can be used for anything you purchase on the cruise such as soft drink packages, alcoholic beverages, pictures, gift shop items, specialty restaurants, etc.  I’m not sure if every single cruise line does it but I know of at least 5 that do.

My fiance and I are undecided about whether we should go to Hawaii (most likely Kauai & another island) or Western Europe on our honeymoon.  A huge factor for us is finding a destination where same sex marriage is legal or recognized and where it isn’t illegal to be in a same sex relationship.

My question for this thread is whether anyone has worked with Liberty Travel in the past.  If so what were your experiences?  They seem to have nice/affordable honeymoon packages but I’m a little afraid that they are too good to be true.

Unfortunately it’s too early to get prices for the dates we want to honeymoon since it’s more than 1 year away.

@lookingglass:  I live just outside of Disney and my FI is an engineer at Animal Kingdom! I just know your honeymoon is going to be amazing! (I teased my FI and said we should just stay here for our honeymoon…he laughed it off, but I could tell it wasn’t an option…)

We are planning a Sandals honeymoon. Still deciding on which resort we want to go to. We figured this would be nice as we have had friends who not only honeymooned there, but continue to goevery year or two for anniversaries.

When we thinking about honeymoon destinations, a big factor for us was what do we want to do during the honeymoon. Since we both wnat to relax and love the Caribbean, we decided that the all inclusive beach paradise was perfect for us!

We havent reserved anything just yet. Travel costs tend to shift constantly based on the market trends, so we will wait until about 4-6 months to book the resort and probably 3 months for the airfare.

It definitely worth looking at places and getting an idea of pricing, but airlines won’t have pricing/tickets available for a few more weeks.

We have our HM destination narrowed down to 3 choices (Brazil, Fiji or French Polynesian Islands). As other PPs have noted you really can’t book anything over a year ahead.

ETA: we’re also working with a travel agent – it’s the best way to go.

I am really torn about our honeymoon … I want to go some place fun and adventurous as well as luxurious and beachy but I hate being super hot and while thailand is one of my top choices my FH thinks that I am going to be sweaty and cranky! I am afraid he might be right….

I was also thinking australia but its a lot more expensive for less?

I had been saying no europe bc we go there for work sometimes and I feel its not the “type” of honeymoon I want to to go

I want part beach/relax, part exotic scenery/adventure and some great food/ luxury…some people say oct isn’t a good month to travel bc its changing seasons everyplace? anyone going to wait for a few months? If we waited till Jan we would be easier w vacation time (I would like to do 2 wks if possible)
