Usually an e-party like a shower is thrown by someone other than the bride and groom, usually one of the parents. You can still have a fancy party with your friends but I wouldn’t call it an e-party.

FI and I went against tradition and threw ourselves a great e-party.   We rented out a back room of a lounge/club/bar (a pretty chill place), and invited all of our closest friends.   There were probably 50 people there.  It was a blast.  But, at the time, no one knew we were engaged, so we told everyone once they came to the party.  We didn’t want the traditional, stuffy e-party.   Why not gatehr your friends together at a chill place and tell them exactly what you’ve told us here…

@VirginiaMarie: Go against tradition?! Le GASP!??

But seriously, you can totally ignore everything that I said above OP. I am one of the most untraditional soon to be brides I know. I just think that there are far too many parties involved in this processes LOL!

@sceeder: HAHA I know, right.   Well, I have also turned down showers, and a bachelorette party.   Perhaps “boring” is more appropriate than “traditional”.   Anyways, our e-party was tons and tons of fun because it wasn’t traditional.  No gifts, no awkward stuffy moments.   Just us, our friends, and a good casual time.  My girlfriends did get us a huge cake though, that mysteriously disappeared at some point throuhgout the evening.   But really, Ashley, you can throw yourself whatever kind of party you want.   An e-party BBQ?  COOL!  An E-party bar crawl? COOL!  It’s not too late.   Do it!

Not to late at all! FI and I were engaged in Nov, are getting married (also!) in January and had our e-party last week.

And who cares who throws your party?! – my grandmom was apparently bitching to my aunts that my FMIL threw the party “since the bride’s family is supposed to throw one” So you aren’t going to ‘please’ everyone.
