Our Christmas tree remains one of my most cherished memories from when I was a kid. Put it up. It's never too late!
No way! Hubs is buying ours on the way home tonight. We just moved into a new home so we really weren't able to set it up before now. Many people don't put their trees up until Christmas Eve! DO IT!
No way! It's only Dec. 14. We just put ours up this weekend, and I thought we were being really on top of things! ;)
We used to put ours up the day before Christmas! We would go out and chop one down (that needed to be thinned on our property or at a neighbors.)
No way! We just put up ours on Saturday (well, New Year's tree...we're Jewish :) ). Go for it! And leave it up til January if you want, we always do, lol.
Definitely not too late! FI's family always puts theirs up around the 20th...my family always put ours up wicked early but to each their own!
lol okay okay... Honestly I like putting mine up the day after thanksgiving and looking at it the entire time. It seems sooo late now, but I usually don't take it down until Jan 2nd...
We just bought ours this past Saturday and decorated it Sunday, it is not too late! If you are getting a real tree it is especially good to put it up later because that means it remains green and fresh most of the time it is up (and reduces the fire hazard!).
Girl, the kids deserve to open some huge presents filled with socks, underwear, toothbrushes, etc., lol. Put that tree up today, it will fill you all up with the holiday spirit!
It's never too late! I have a friend who puts up her tree on Christmas Eve cause she likes to tell her kids that Santa and his elves came and put the tree up for Christmas. So no, it's not too late! :)
Ours is being purchased on Thursday and decorated on Friday, so I hope it's not too late!
Its never too late!! People used to wait for Santa to bring it Christmas Eve, so just think you are going retro this year!! And even for that you're EARLY! MERRY CHRISTMAS :)
It's not too late at all! FI and I just started getting ours up last night, and it probably won't be finished until tonight or Wednesday b/c of work/finals. We wanted to put it up earlier but projects got in the way.
It's not too late, and totally worth it to me. I leave mine up until after New Years just so I can keep enjoying it.
@AudzinLuv: omg are you in my class lol?! I just posted about that... in one of my classes. I think I will go out tonight and find something to put up. But of course a cheap tree since I am still on a budget lol.
Dec 26 is too late. That;s all, really.
It just needs to be up on Christmas, the time before doesn't matter.
It's not too late. FI is going out to buy one tonight. He's a man with two grown sons so of course he though he was off the hook. My daughter and I like to have a Christmas tree though and since we will be spending Christmas together that means it needs to be at his house...LOL. He refuses to decorate it though so it will be nekkid til the 23rd...LOL
Not at all! When my mom was growing up her family never put up the tree until Christmas eve after the kids went to bed so there was a big reveal on Christmas morning!
My first response was, "Wait...it's that close to X-mas already?!" Haha. Absolutely not too late, btw.
@AudzinLuv: HAHA yes that is awesome. Santa can bring the most boring, no-fun presents for the kids who need to pick up the slack in school! Love it.
And hey, don't some people wait all the way til Christmas Eve to do the tree thing? I like doing it asap, but I say it's never too late!! :)
I'm not decorating one until Friday. I fly home that day to be with my family, so we are putting one up! I say do it!
I bought our tree today for $25! It is an awesome fresh frasier at about 5 1/2 to 6 feet tall. The kids and hubby are now twisting the bolts for our tree holder. I will take pix when done. I also hit Michael's dollar bin for some fun things for the kids...
Not too late! I've been too lazy/busy to put ours up so far, and I'm not sure that we are going to since we'll barely be home on Christmas. Growing up, we put ours up on Christmas Eve. My mom liked to make a game out of it and rush us to get it decorated or else Santa wouldn't come.
We are putting ours up this weekend. I don't like to put it up too early.
My friend's gma & gpa do this too, and they take it down before New Years, and then decorate a tree in their yard in the new year for "Ukranian Christmas."
ETA: OP: we didn't recieve our christmas tree until friday last week (but we were out of town) but we put it up Sunday, though we haven't decorated it yet -- that is what we are planning on doing tomorrow.
I am just putting ours up tonight. I know several families that put one up christmas eve when all the family is together.
@tksjewelry: whew just finished. the kids fought moderately (and all of their custom ornaments are put at the VERY top of the tree lmao!!) I guess so Santa can see it up there first.
on a sidenote... my best friend is appalled that I am not having a big Christmas for them. She says I should punish them another time. I say that they knew better since Halloween and didn't put forth the proper effort so they get little things and one of the fun things that they wanted (my son chose a teenage mutant ninja turtle video game).
Christmas morning is too late. Anytime before then is totally fine and not late at all.
Not too late! Our's has only been up since Sunday (it's Wednesday). So wonderful to smell it all through the house....
My ex-sil gets a real tree on christmas eve and sets it all up that day. I think that's what they did in her family growing up. It's NEVER too late for a Christmas Tree!!!
I just started my decorating last night (because I just finished my masters program yesterday!). So you definitely aren't too late!
It's never too late! They only start putting up trees here (in Sweden) the day before Xmas and since they celebrate on the 24th -- they literally put it up the day of! It was hard to convince my DH to put ours up the start of Dec and even harder to find a tree for sale at the time!
A tree just makes the house feel so festive -- it's never too late for festivities
No way its not too late!!! You will be happy to have it up so I say do it!

Hey guys, I am toying with the idea of putting up a tree now, I know 12 days before Christmas....
I keep wanting to do something more than just a traditional tree and I haven't thought of anything yet.... if anyone has any alternatives, feel free to post them....
I was originally thinking all of our ornaments in a few vases to be our "tree" of course we have children and they want the traditional tree, unfortunately their grades aren't the best and Santa doesn't put presents under the tree for kids who don't try their best..
