I ordered the Alfred Angelo 1148, which is also a tafetta dress in White.
I too after ordering thought maybe it would be "too" white. Well I got it in a month ago and at my first fitting, I fell in love with it. I am completely satisified with my choice and I hope that you will be too!
My dress wasn't taffeta, but I had the same doubts...and was so nervous while I waited for the dress! So I totally understand!
The sample was ivory (looked white to me), everyone at the shop told me to order ivory, and my mom told me to order ivory...and when I finally ordered the dress I ordered it in ivory, but the whole drive home I kept thinking that I wanted a white dress...so I called later that day and changed the dress to white. I was so worried I made the wrong decision changing it to white...but when it came in I loved it and did not regret it at all.
Hey there! I can honestly say that I ordered an ivory dress, but I also happen to be of Asian descent, and white would have been a horrid color on my specific complexion.
If you tried it and loved it in "white" at the salon, then it really doesn't matter about the "ivory trend." Each bride has their own color palette that works, and the important thing is that you fell in love with your dress in the "white" color.
I bet you will love you dress as much as the day you tried it on when it comes back in March. No matter what, remember that your future husband will likely not even notice the difference - guys are like that! :)
Congratulations on your wedding!
Don't worry. Dress anxieties are perfectly normal. I had a few panics myself. But I have a gorgeous taffeta diamond white dress that is just perfect. Everyone who sees the dress says they cannot imagine a better dress for me. So relax, wait for the dress to come in, and do not look at any more dresses online or in bridal magazines. It will drive you crazy.
I had a silk taffeta Judd Waddell dress in white and loved it. Like you said, since it's silk taffeta, it won't be a bright, stark white. I bought white satin shoes and I actually had to get them dyed a few shades darker so they would match the white of the dress.
The white dress won't just look fine - I'm sure it'll look beautiful!
I agree with angeldoc. If you liked your dress when you tried it on, then you will love it when it comes in! Everybody's skintone is different, so it's important that you found something that looks good on YOU regardless of what everybody else orders. I know it's hard, but stop second guessing yourself! Your dress will look lovely and nobody will even think twice about if it's white or ivory!!! :-)
I'm also Alfred Angelo 1148 - in the diamond white. And I didn't even want a white dress. I started out shopping for pale pink, or gold, or even dove grey. You see, I just don't wear white at all. I don't even own white t-shirts, or underwear. I don't think I look that good in white, and I can be guaranteed to spill something on any white clothing I do try to wear, and stain it forever, almost immediately. Anyway, I would have thought I was absolutely the least likely white dress bride ever. But I loved the dress, and the color. It wasn't really "white" at all - more like the color of vanilla ice cream.
If you loved the color of the dress when you tried it on, I'm sure it will be gorgeous - you'll still love it when it arrives. I think it's just natural to second guess your decision while you're waiting.
There is a reason you fell in love with your dress and put down the deposit! It will look great! I personally have an ivory dress and wish white would have looked good on me. It's so classic:)
Oh, oh, oh! White silk taffeta is GORGEOUS!!! It's not the stark, bleach white of synthetic fabrics. It has natural, glowing feel to it. All I considered were off-white gowns until I found my white silk taffeta gown. You'll be happy with it, I promise!
And it's not crazy to have second thoughts, particularly when you have to wait so long to get it! I had so many doubts about my dress - it just grew uglier and uglier in my mind - but then the second that I slipped it back on at my first fitting, I was as happy as ever.

Hi bees,
This sounds dumb but I'll go ahead and post it anyway...
I ordered my dress last month and it won't be until March when the actual dress comes in. I really love it but there's one thing that's been on my mind...
When I was in the store, I tried on the sample in a "white" color. I say "white" because when I had it on, it actually looked more like ivory to me... Until the bridal consultant came in and brought the ivory dress. We were in a room with no natural light, just room lights. The ivory dress looked really dark in the room so I didn't even try it on. The dress that I had on ("white") looked like the color that I wanted. So without further thought, I ordered the "white."
Its not a stark white...its a silk taffeta material so its more of a soft white or diamond white. My concern is that there is a lot of talk about ivory dresses...and I'm wondering if I made a big mistake?
Its too late now but i guess i'm just in need of some reassurance that the the "white" dress will look fine.
Anyone else have/had a silk taffeta diamond white dress they can say they looked BEAUTIFUL in? :)
The dress is a Melissa Sweet Mila. Are there any other white Mila brides out there?
