- Wedding: June 2013
I am an older and this is not my first marriage. So not a big wedding. I have a lovely ivory dress as I want to feel special on my big day rather than a suit. I planned on having just my granddaughter as a flower girl but both my daughters wanted to be bridesmaids as we are very close. My eldest bought my dress and the bridesmaids dresses too. She still lives at home and was my rock when my marriage broke up & is delighted that I have found happiness.
Anyway I am quite happy about it. But my fiance’s mother asked me if his neice aged 22 could be bridesmaid. She is not close to my fiance or me ,we rarely see her. I said sorry but the three I have may be a bit excessive & if I had her all his other neices would then want to be bridesmaids making 6!! I would feel rediculous having so many at my age & not a first wedding.
My fiance says bridesmaids are my department & best man is his.
Are bridesmaids usually people who are close to the bride which was my view?( As they are in the room drinking champagne and having fun all getting ready together.)
What do other people think?
