CallMeMrsG:  To each their own.  I think your ideas to include are okay.  The only time it will look weird is during photos when there will be as many children as there are adults in the wedding!  But you would also have some photos without the kids so I don’t think it matters much.

I think it will be fine. Maybe one of them could help pass out programs, man the guestbook table, or just stand at the entrance with an adult to welcome guests to the ceremony if you aren’t keen on a “here comes the bride” sign.

could you have them roll out a runner or perform some other function during the ceremony?

I think its fine.  We have 3 FGs (4 yrs), 1 RB (3 yrs), 1 Jr BM (13) and we may have a 10 month old… that’s up to how the parents feel closer to the date.

They’ll only do a few photos with us, not all of them.  We have 3 other preteen/teens who all have ‘jobs’ on the day and will all get thank you gifts and corsages (I don’t want them to feel left out.)

I think it would be hard to exclude children because they don’t really understand, and they don’t have to be in every picture (often times the ring bearers and flower girls are only in the pictures with the families and then the bridesmaids and groomsmen go on with the couple to do more pictures while they head to the reception with family or rest for a bit).   I could see having someone do a aisle runner, guest book, maybe even an usher if they had help from someone older (would be really cute actually).  They could also hand out bubbles or streamers or whatever type of exit you are doing.  They could even all be ringbearers- usually the ring bearer doesn’t even hold the rings.  The job of kids in weddings is basically just to look cute anyways.

CallMeMrsG:  you could have two of them, or even three (one to hold the end while two roll) whenever you want, but usually I think it’s right before the bride. You could have it for everyone though. It depends on what it’s made of, and if it’ll get heel puncures (if it’s paper or thin plastic on carpet) if women walk down before you.
