Until now, I had not concentrated on the fact that we have 4 ring bearers in our wedding and only 2 rings.  The older boys will be carrying the actual rings (they are 9) but I think it would look a bit strange if we have two more boys walk down with rings.  I'm not sure I like the idea of bell ringers and it seems awfully self centered to have them carry a banner that says "here comes the bride" (they are 4 and 6).  MY FI is also not convinced.  Does anyone have sugeestions or pictures of what to do with extra ring bearers?

Can the younger boys carry the (fake, maybe) rings?  The the older two can be "jr groomsmen"?  Do you have a flowergirl?  They could escort her.

You could just get them to carry some random decorative item down the aisle and make up a name for their role.  A friend of mine had two little boys carry unlit paper lanterns on tall sticks.  I don't think she trusted them with the rings.  You could call them "lantern bearers."  It could be anything!

I don't like the idea of fake rings.  I think it is a bit redundant and makes the boys less important.  One of the older boys is my brother and has specifically asked to carry one of the rings.  My FI just suggested flags.  We are having a nautical wedding so I think it might work.  Perhaps flags with our initials in our wedding colors.

Lucky you. I have no idea who I will have as my ring boys/flower girls. I don't have any kids in my family or extended family that are flower girl/ring boy-age or material.

I like the idea of the extra ring boys escoring the flower girls.  Or you can include two of them at the reception (the ones who are not in the ceremony).
