@veryberry13:  This is going to sound a bit silly, but I believe that if there are bad spirits/ghosts, then there are certainly good spirits/ghosts around.  When going to sleep, imagine you’re surrounded by the spirits of people who you’ve lost, like grandparents, friends, etc.  They could be sitting on your bed, playing cards, just passing the time and watching over you while you sleep.

That helps me when I can’t sleep sometimes.

What Im going to say will not help but I totally know how your feeling. Lately I been watching these shows Paranormal Witness and I been having hard time sleeping afterwards. The other day I was home alone and my door flew open it kinda freaked me out I thought it would be my fiance coming home so i yelled out hi baby….  and I got no anwser, so I peek around the cornor and no one was there…he didn’t shut the door tightly that morning before he left for work, i guess it was just the wind…

Sorry I didn’t help too much with this.

@veryberry13:  I get this way too! Quite often actually since I tend to get on a kick of reading/watching paranormal stories. So I just go to bed with the tv on something funny or cartoons. It takes your mind off of it and you fall asleep. If the noise is too much just mute it and go to sleep, so if you wake up all freaked out over a noise just turn the volume back up and it instantly distracts you!

@Serey:  Girrrrrrrlllllllll…. don’t tell her that!

@veryberry13:  LOL… yeah, paranormal sleepovers always make me feel better.  It’s usually my Grandma knitting and my alcoholic uncle drinking beer in the corner, playing solitaire.

Here’s another thought.  This works for me too.  If you HAVE TO watch a scary movie, make it something that is location specific, like The Others, The Mist, A Haunting in Connecticut, Texas Chainsaw Massacre, etc.  If it takes place somewhere you’re not going to go any time soon, you’re fine.  Look the movie up on IMDB and see if it’s set somewhere distinctive.

ANOTHER thing I do is watch the movie 3 times… don’t laugh, it works.  First time, the whole thing in fast forward.  Second time, watch it on normal speed but fast forward through the scary parts, third time, watch it all the way through… during the day, with someone else there with you.  If you’re short on time, you can skip the 2nd viewing.  It helps to know where the scary parts are.

Have a glass of wine or a couple benadryl.  🙂

Not much keeps me from sweet slumber, but when I’m too wound up a couple drinks takes the edge off.  Or I fall asleep in front of the tv.  I focus on the tv and get distracted and just fall asleep – no chance to think about or freak out on anything else.

Bahahaha, I did this to myself yesterday. I started researching the history of one of the buildings on my university campus. There was a fire here in 1912 and that building is the only one of the original campus that survived. It was apparently used for um..”medical experimentation” and “teaching anatomy” ……only, you know, corpses weren’t exactly procured in the most ethical of ways in the 1900s..^^; Anyway, they’re doing work on the building now, and when they did an overhaul of it a few years back they apparently found human remains under a sink in the wall of one of the rooms.

SO, out of curiousity, I was researching this and listening to EVPs that a paranormal investigator service did here a year or so ago…and then I was like “Hey what is this spirit box thing?” So I researched that and found it on Amazon, which led me to a YouTube channel of this dude who has a ton of EVPs and talks about his experience with his spirit box bringing spirits to his house

I COULDN’T STOP WATCHING AND LISTENING! AND READING! And I was reading about evil spirits and the devil and there were a bunch of EVPs mentioning evil and help me and all this nonsense.

So, last night, I couldn’t sleep. It was awful. I would get up to use the bathroom and sprint down the hallway and jump under the covers behind FI, lol.

YOU ARE NOT ALONE! Why are they so addicting!?

P.S. – I have shared on teh ghost story threads before. They are so fascinating!!
