Bloat is often deadly in dogs so it’s really good you took her in! Do you free feed your dog by any chance? I know what you mean about having a huge vet bill, one of my dogs got hurt yesterday and I had to rush her to the vet last night. Hope your furbaby recovers quickly!

Have they tested for worms? Does she have rice-sized looking segments near her rear?

My Lily would bloat SO big. She had tape worms which doesnt show up in regular worm screenings. The only way to know if they have them is when the segments (those rice like structures) start appearing or an actual worm gets passed– which doesnt happen often.

She is adorable! The are almost always off when they estimate size (they always say smaller because it is more marketable) even at shelters. But another case with shelters pets is that they come in underfed and their true potential size is hard to establish due to the malnutrition.

Hang in there <3 as long as she is acting nomal she should be ok

So scary! It is so scary when something is wrong with your pet because you can’t just ASK how they feel. Hate that. I’m glad you took your pup in and that everything seems to be okay— better safe than sorry!

@moonadea:  That’s really weird considering your house sounds puppy-proofed and you measure out meals. Any wrappers from the trash she may have eaten would have shown up on the x-rays. Guess you’ll be scrutinizing her stools for the next day or two to try to solve the mystery! Haha.

My older GSD somehow hurt her hind leg jumping in the car and then later on in the afternoon she fell when playing fetch. This dog is not a sissy and to hear her scream in pain after the fall was horrifying. She’s on pain meds and a week of strict rest and we’ll go from there. Thanks for asking 🙂

We are about to go to the vet because one of my babes had got some god awful poo and it looks jelly like. But I foud some holes in my bedspread. It’s a valour like bedspread, I think. plush fabric anyways. So I looked at her spitefully and she looked at me like “Yeah? And? My Sister could have done it.” So I had to let it go since I didn’t catch her doing anything. Caught her chewing on it today and she got a good grilling. She still looked at me as if her sister had done it.

Now I think it might be what’s messing up her digestion. I’m going to get her some poop meds from petsmart and give it the weekend.

Cutie pie!! <3

I feel you on the weight thing — our puppy was supposed to be about 12-15 lbs.  She’s 4 months and now weighs 17.5 (and she’s not overweight, she’s very lean/built).  I’m thinking that 12-15 is going to be closer to 25-30.  Which is fine, we love her just as much, even if she will soon be towering over her big brother! 😉

@moonadea:  I was going to ask about worms!  The puppies we are fostering get very big bellies after they eat, but then they poo a ton.  They do this in spurts as they are about to grow, and then their eating will regulate for a few days and then they’ll eat a little more than usual and get big bellies, which soften immediately after they poo.  But then we’ll notice that they grew that night/day.  I’m glad to hear your puppy is doing better.
