    Hi everyone :)

I am just wondering what everyone does as far as tooth and oral care for your babies? What age do you start? To you wipe out with a clean cloth, use spiffies, use a finger brush and baby gum and tooth paste? Did you start before your child had any teeth poking through? Right now DD is 3 months and we have been wiping her mouth with a clean thin wash cloth after nursing but nothing else.

    Thanks!

Our dentist recommended we wipe Addie's mouth twice a day with a soft washcloth before her first tooth came in; after the first tooth, we started brushing it twice a day with a baby toothbrush and water.  At one year, she went to her first dentist appointment, and they recommended we start using toddler toothpaste or training toothpaste instead of water.

Also, I think routines are really helpful.  Early on, we instated a tooth brushing routine.  We do it at the same times every day (morning and night), sit in the same location, brush for the same amount of time, etc...  Addie LOVES getting her teeth brushed (I think she'd do it like 10 times a day if we let her, lol), and I attribute that more to the routine than anything else.

I have 6wks before my baby is born, but I already have things for his/her teeth. :) I got some little wipes at Target to go over their gums, then I got a finger toothbrush with little toothpaste for 6months and over til I can use a toothbrush.
