I am torn between two dresses. They are both David’s Bridal and the color we’ve chosen is Horizon (like a cobalt blue). One is long and the other short. At first, I was leaning toward the longer dress because it feels more “formal” and the ceremony is in a church. However, the shorter dress has the criss-cross ruching that my gown has and a similar neckline. Both have a romantic, flowy vibe that we’re going for. Any thoughts, opinions, etc. are very much welcomed! Here they are, in addition to my gown.

They’re both beautiful! Do your BMs have a preference? I really think both complement your dress well, and it looks like they’re pretty comparable prices!
I guess a benefit of long BM dresses is that they cover up shoes for the most part, so you could give your BMs a lot of leeway in their shoes. (I don’t know if that is a big deal for you or not…) The shorter dresses leave everything exposed so there would be more attention on the BM shoes, so you might feel more obliged to find matching shoes for the girls.
I think in the Horizon color, the longer dresses have a little more wow factor, because the shiny satin sash pops out. I would probably go for the long dresses, but I would consult my BMs first! Honestly, both are lovely!

@MsVoyageur: thanks so much for your reply! I’m leaning more toward the longer gown at this point for some of the same reasons you listed (love the shiny satin sash and good point about the shoes). My BMs are actually just as torn, I think! Which is good, because I think everyone will be happy either way.

@asianyoushi: great question. we’re actually looking to move the ceremony time from 3 to 4PM. so, it’s late afternoon/evening wedding.

If it were going on me/my party I’d prefer the short one because I could see us using it again at a cocktail event. If you are paying then the long one would be on even footing to me.
They are both beautiful (as is your gown). If you’re stuck and you love them both, you could let your party take a vote assuming they won’t get catty.

We had short cobalt chiffon dresses (great color choice!) and they were lovely. I think the short one is the prettiest, and they will actually be able to wear it again. And I think it is plenty formal for a church wedding 🙂

Thanks everyone! I’m having each of my girls (who live in different states, for the most part) go and try each one on, take a pic, then we’ll decide. Will keep you posted!

Do you have any photos of you in the Allure? I’m thinking about trying to find this gown.
