So I know it’s a bit early for me to be trying on dresses as my wedding won’t be til 2014. But since all my friends are trying on gowns, they wanted me to be part of the action as well.
However, I feel I might have found my dress but I LOVE two completely different looks! So as of now, I’m planning a more vintage or rustic outdoor wedding. So I feel the Vera Wang Eliza goes more with that theme. I’m wearing a size 8 in the picture so I would have to get it altered down to a street size 2.
But then I felt the Eve of Milady gown looked better on my body because it’s more fitted, but it so does not fit with the theme.
So I have no idea which one to go with…..or if I should shop around more bc I’m two years ahead of my wedding.
Any suggestions would help!

pick your venue first! I’m tempted to dress shop now too…but when I think about the range of venues I’m about to visit, I realize that I’d want a totally different dress for a ranch vs a vineyard vs a tented deal at a resort or estate… there’s no harm in waiting if you’re going with a new dress

Honesty, I think it’s way too early to shop and pick a wedding dress. I would say start collecting dresses that you like and take them to your dress consultation. You may fall in love with a dress now but later down the line you may see another dress you like and may regret buying a dress so soon.

2 and a half years is a LOTTTTT of time for fashions to change and venues to get booked or not booked. Just type in “dress regret” in the search, and you’ll see what happens when girls buy too early.
Enjoy playing dress up – but DO NOT buy!!!
Neither of those strike me as outdoor-wedding dresses, but really, when its your wedding, you can wear whatever the heck you want. 🙂

Yeah I don’t think I can commit now to a dress. But I think most likely I’m going to go to a more fitted gown instead of ballroom gown 🙂
Thanks for input!

I’m not until late 2014, as well, and am thinking garden/outdoors/rustic, too. I would hold off on buying/deciding, but in terms of these dresses, I still like the second one. It looks made for you, and it’s not going to clash with the theme, it’s just not the same whimy of the Vera. And I mean, I don’t know the cost of Eve’s, but I would think you’d save here too 🙂

And let me just say, OP, your skin looks FLAWLESS. I would die for skin like yours!

I love that first dress, but I have to echo the other posters, I think it may be too early for you to be shopping…unless you can resist the urge to not look at any other wedding dress! Its hard trust me!
I ordered my dress early and while I dont have dress regret I attribute that to me not looking at another dress. Even when I went with my BMs to shop for their dresses I resisted the urge to look at the wedding dresses they had on display. I didn’t look online anymore and I didn’t try on any more dresses. The result? I still love my dress and I don’t have dress regret! But it was super hard and I bought my dress about 10 months before my wedding. I couldn’t imagine resisting the urge for 2 years!

@Love108: The Eve dress actually costs $200 less than the Vera 😉 The one I tried on is actually a sample dress from the Vera Wang that was donated to their boutique. haha i think i was a bit tempted bc it’s marked down $9000 less than retail value!! And thank you for your compliment on my skin — u are too sweet!
@Hippos: yeah, it’s going to be sooo hard for me not to keep looking especially all my friends seem to be engaged now and are either getting married the end of this year or next year…But yeah I just really LOVE the skirt of the Eliza — how whimisical it is

I think you get the idea that everyone is saying here haha, enjoy the predress decision because you have to stop looking once you purchase or you will get really disappointed at some point! Play around have some fun try on different shapes and fabrics and nail down a few more details and put another year between now and when you decide (at least) good luck and congrats on the plenty of time for planning!

So, you look beautiful in dress #1, but I agree – find your venue first!
