I am partial to Greece because that is where we are planning on honeymooning!  Our whole rationale has been to really live it up on our honeymoon.  We can hit up an AI anytime we’d like in lieu of our “typical” summer vacation, so why not do something ew and exciting on our honeymoon?

We were debating between Europe and Mexico. We went with Mexico AI because we wanted to relax. We didn’t want a schedule or list of things to do/see on our honeymoon. We plan to spend a few weeks in Europe down the road, but def wanted the relaxation for the honeymoon. It depends on what you want.

I agree with @MsAmandaAnn, you can do the relaxing resort anytime. plus  you can’t exactly drag kids along in an adventurous vacay. I’m trying to convince my FI into Thailand for that exact reason 🙂

Greece-definitely Greece, hands down. Mexico does not even come close to the Mediterranean. If you love Mexico, then you’ll both be blown away by Greece-and yes-find that extra $1500 for the boat trip. Trust me-it will be the trip of your life. You only get one honeymoon. Do it up! Youve been to Mexico before, and as you said-it’s easy to get to-and will most likely go back. Make your honeymoon special! Good luck and let me know if you need any recommendations!

i’m not a fan of repeat trips so my vote is greece. i haven’t been, planning for it someday but i’ve been researching and their beaches are out of this world.

I would definitely find a way to do the boat trip in Greece, if anything taking out half the Athens trip – I’ve been there and you don’t need more than 3 days to see the main touristy stuff in Athens, and you’ll enjoy doing the beach stuff more on the islands than you will in Athens.

I’d definitely go with Mexico, I haven’t been there but I would really love to go. My best friend is Mexican and she is always telling how beautiful the beaches are. So I voted for there.

Go to Greece.  A relaxy beach vacation is quite typical for north americans.

I would go with an advaneture type, as I have just has this same debate on here! (NYC or swimming with jellies?) and as everyone pointed out, this is a once in a life-time trip! 🙂

    Either way, enjoy! x

@hdoubleyou86:  If you think you’ll be super stressed with the wedding then I would go the all inclusive route. Yeah, Greece doesn’t come along every year, but if you’ve never traveled internationally before together and you’re stressed from the wedding AND jet lagged, you might not enjoy it. I travel from Canada to England each year to visit SO’s parents and it takes me a full week to get over jet lag. I know some people aren’t as bad as me, but it makes my stomach hurt and I just feel awful for that first week.

You may want to just chill out on a beach somewhere and indulge in yummy food. I want to go to Greece someday myself… I love Greek food etc…. but I am not sure I’d want to do it after a wedding. Too much. You want good memories.

Personally I would probably go with the safer option. Realistically the Greece trip you describe isn’t exactly a once in a lifetime opportunity. You can save for a few years and do that cruise no problem. You probably don’t want bad honeymoon memories and Greece has that potential.

Why are people voting Mexico when that isn’t a choice lol? Punta Cana is in the Dominican Republic, not Mexico. I love the Dominican Republic, but I would go with Greece, it is a little more “once in a lifetime” kind of trip and it would be easier to return to Punta Cana later.

Following!  FI and I are having the same debate – he wants active, lots to do, no beach, and I want relaxing, all-inclusive on a beach.  We are 4 months out with no plans, so I am keeping tabs on this one.  Either way, we want to do something that’s new for both of us together.
