My dress will be shortened and will have a bustle. I was told by the girl at the shop that it will cost me about $150-$200, but when the seamstress (from the same store) handed me the invoice yesterday, she’s charging me $360 plus tax! Even the girl at the shop was shocked at the price I am being charged to shorten the bottom of the dress and for the bustle.
Here’s what needs to be done:
How much were you, brides, charged for alteration?

@mitchiedoll: That seems like alot to me. How come they told you 2 different prices? That would have annoyed me! I got my dress from a place that didnt charge for alterations if you bought a full priced dress (not sale items) This was one of the main reasons I chose this place cause I’m on a serious budget and I didnt want an alteration “surprise” once I got the dress

The place I went charged a minimum of $450 – I was able to get it down to $400 because I paid cash. I was astonished and called my aunt to ask what her experience was, and she said that that was actually quite normal for bride alterations. Definitely crazy, but better than not having a dress that fits (like I initially experienced with my first dress that was botched by cheap alterations).
