- Wedding: February 2013
I am writing this review because when I was planning my wedding I researched as much as I could for peace of mind, but found very little information. We got married in February in downtown Toronto at the Rosewater Room. Our experience was fabulous, and many of my guests raved about the food and drink. We saved 10% before tax for having a winter wedding. The Rosewater Room is an elegant ballroom setting. We arrived at 3pm for family photos and the venue was organized and ready for our arrival. The wedding coordinator, Stefanie, knows her job very well. She was such an amazing presence and she takes your wedding day very seriously despite the fact that she has seen thousands of weddings at the Rosewater. She makes the day run smoothly which is so helpful. The ceremony was at the Rosewater room at 4pm, then the guests go back downstairs to the posh bar/lounge for cocktails and appetizers for an hour while the staff flip the room upstairs into a dining room. We opted for an open bar and we upgraded for premium liquors, beers, and cocktails. I didn’t really like the wines that were served but I didn’t really care either. I did not get to try the appetizers, which are complimentary of the Rosewater Room (amazing), but my friends said they were tasty. The servers did try to get me to eat, as well as our entire wedding party, but I was too overstimulated to be snacking. There is a large list of appetizers and I think we got to choose 3 for free to be passed around, if you wanted more choices then there was a fee. We stuck with free! At 6pm, the guests are ushered upstairs to eat. There are stairs but also an elevator for those who may need an accessible venue. There is a bridal suite there that the Rosewater provides for the bride and her girls. It comes with a key so we could lock up our purses, card box, and any other valuables. There was champagne and strawberries and a leather couch for us to relax before our grand entrance. Also, there is a large private restroom with handrails for the bride! Very thoughtful for us girls who chose larger wedding gowns. The ballroom looked great. The room is very grand so we went simple with decor. I just didn’t want to spend a lot on decorations, and I’m not creative, and I just don’t care about that stuff. The bar is in the dining room which I really appreciated. It kept the party in one room so we didn’t have a party in the lobby and the dance floor. Everyone was always together. There is a deck with a fire pit on it for those who smoked. It was pretty cool. The capacity at Rosewater is 150, so it kind of has an intimidate feeling. We served four courses. Sparkling wine was given to every guest upon their seating. The courses were antipasto (very delicious—everyone loved it), penne with red sauce (run of the mill, I ate it all and it was fine), Steak and Chicken with mash potatoes and veg (I thought it was great, obviously too much food, steak cooked to a perfect medium rare which we requested, chicken was tender and tasty, and I don’t remember if I liked the sides), the dessert was so cute. It was tiramisu in a edible chocolate cup. Yummy and adorable. We were appointed a head server who was amazing, caring, funny, communicative and professional. Our cake table was beside the bar which my aunts said they did not like because the cake was easy to ignore or not notice. I had too much going on to notice that. The bartender was pretty fast and happy, we had a huge drinking crowd and everybody got sufficiently drunk, not me, but that wasn’t for lack of the bartender’s trying. There is an option to close the bar during dinner and only serve wine, which we did not choose, we kept it open. They offer a midnight buffet which I did not choose. I thought we fed our guests very well. The exact cost of each plate $134.00 including the open bar from 4:30 pm to 1am, kids plates were $35, $10 for non alcoholic beverages. I recommend this place for a party. The Rosewater Room is owned by Liberty Group, we are invited to a wedding in October that is a Liberty Group property (Eglinton Grand) and we know it will be great. I hope this was helpful for any couples looking for info on the Rosewater Room.
