We are doing the same thing at our wedding! I am going to go the paper cone route and do something similar to the picture attached. Hope this helps:)
Those look great!
But can anyone help me with the logistics of it? Should I get enought petals for everyone to toss or just half or about a third of the guests? And how do I get them to the guests?
We got enough for less than half the guests and left them on chairs in little mesh bags. The DOC went around before the ceremony to make sure everyone knew what to do. I ordered the petals online (freeze dried) and they had a pretty good guide of how much to order for the number of people.....
Thanks! I was going to order freeze dried ones but for all my guests it was about $100 just in petals that they're going to see for 30 seconds...less than half sounds perfect! and the mesh bags may be easier to pass out. Thanks for the tips!
I'm using cones and leaving them on the seats with the program. We are having a small wedding so everyone will be able to throw- also I have seen people go outside the venue to do the wedding toss, this way= more room for people to toss. Also, I HIGHLY HIGHLY HIGHLY HIGHLY recommend you get the freeze dried flowers so that they dont stain your dress.
We had a really small wedding, so we gave tossing petals to everyone, but I think having them for the the first couple aisle seats of each row would do. I also second the freeze-dried petals. If you want to make sure the guests know what to do, you can attach a note to the petals.
Here's the note we had for ours:
I'm looking into doing this also! I'd be interested in what other people can provide on this subject!
Thanks for your help ladies.
I'm getting married outside so I'm worried about leaving them on the benches in case the wind blows. My fi said we should put rocks in the cones to hold them down. I had to actually sit him down and explain how that could go wrong. Petals is one thing...people chucking rocks at our heads is a completely different thing!
We're having refreshments served at the ceremony site. Do you think it would look tacky to have a basket holding all the cones for people to take there? Or should we have them passed out when people are sitting?
My girlfriend had ribbons and tied the cones to the chairs. The light purple ribbon had another ribbon on the back that looped around the chair so they hung from all the corners of the chairs.
we had a stone holding down our programs, and no one threw them :)
A basket with the cones would totally look fine, the question is whether or not the people would take them! and then you would need enough to have for everyone so that the people on the aisle have them for sure. The other solution is after people are seated have your coordinator or friend hand them out to the people on the aisles- that would probably be the easiest and cheapest solution :)

Sorry, there are no users yet.
Sounds simple enough but I have a whole bunch of questions...
Does everyone need to toss can I just do half the guests or just the guests closest to the aisle?
How do I get them to the guests? My plan was to make cones out of a bunch of cool paper and put the petals in that and maybe have them in a basket...what do you think? Should I have our wedding coordinator pass them out or leave the basket at the refreshment table we're having at the ceremony? Any thoughts?
What do I say on them? How do I tell guests what I want them to do or are they smart enough to figure it out? I dont' want them chucking petals at my head when I'm walking down to get married...obviously I want them tossed at our exit.
Any advice about this would be really appreciated!
