@Soladylike: Is Turks and Caicos really cheap? Any recommendatons of reasonably priced places to stay?
try the sandle resorts...call them...they always have huge sales going on. I really like antigua
I would definitely check out cheapcaribbean and similar sites. Especially flying from the Southeast, you should be able to do the Caribbean for $2500. Check out Jamaica, Bahamas, St. Thomas.
I'm going to second checking out cheapcaribbean. I just spent 7 nights in Punta Cana with my guy for about $3000 including flights at the all inclusive Excellence Resort. From what he told me that wasn't one of the cheap places, so I'm sure you could find something cheaper!
Flying out of the northern-midwest area, I was gonna do Punta Cana in the Dominican Republic. 6 nights, 7 days for two people including air fare was only about $1,900-$2,000. I've never been there but family and friends have and they loved it. Depends upon which resort of course, but there are some much cheaper than that and some much more.
Depends when you are looking to go, of course. With you being in Atlanta, it should probably be a bit cheaper since you are so far south.
@jackndiane: Yes, the flights are reasonable and the Windsong Resort is only $200 a night and its fabulous.
How long do you want to go? LivingSocial released an Escape today for 4 days in St. Lucia for $1,095 (normally $2340). You could add some days and still be in your budget.
@ananeele: Yeah, check on Groupon and Living Social. You can sometimes combine the offers when they are for fewer days. I'd be careful though - check the fine print for expiration and blackout dates!
Ive done resort mexico for $1600 from farther north you should have NO issues whatsoever finding something in the caribbean
Turks and Caicos is expensive.
Mexico, Jamiaca, Dominican, Cuba and Costa Rica are your best bets.
When do you want to go? If you go at an off season time you will get a better deal. SO and i booked a trip one month before and are going to Mexico for $2100 5 star resort.
Mexcio!
My FI and I just booked our honeymoon--11 nights including airfare for 2,900. Its totally do-able. Granted, we aren't staying in an all inclusive resort the whole time (only 3 nights) but there are some great deals. We booked 3 different places because we want to relax while experiencing some of the local culture. I'm so pumped. :)
the cheapest places for $2500 is mexico, and Dominican republic and Cuba and possibly jamaica. All the other islands are pretty expensive... We are going to the Grand Palladium Colonial in the Mayan Riveira for $2500, $2700 with travel insurance Feb 6-13. Sandal resorts are also pretty expensive.
What I suggest is go to your travel agent and get some quotes. You can always go online after and find a better deal yourself.
you can also check out the wedding channel deals. They often have some really really good deals with airfare even!
Check out Bookit.com - they're prices have always come back lower when I"ve compared with any other site....they also always have some sort of promo going on for resort credits, or automatic flight credits when you book.....I found a trip to a 5 star resort in mexico for 2 - all inclusive luxury suite (flights included) for $2400 TOTAL!!

I would like to add that I really don't want a cruise. FI and I have been on a couple of cruises and I am kind of cruised out
