!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I haven't read your post yet but !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! OMG YOU'RE CHANGING YOUR DRESS?!?!??!?!?!
ok......... breathing.....
OMG BellaMargot! I can't friggin believe you! I mean, yes this is GORGEOUS..... and PERFECT...
but ... your dress was so pretty... :/ I just whimpered a little, hehe.
so... can we see this new Sophia? Pretty please?
Teasing aside, I am really excited for you!!! Wedding fever strikes another hehe. The house really is beaUtiful and getting married on the steps is uber romantic. :) :) :)
Happy for you!!
Wow! That venue is gorgeous!!! I want to get married there!! Congrats on finding this gem!
haha i knew a lot of my friends in real life would freak out about me changing the dress, but the sophia is amaaaaaaaaaaazing! i've decided i'm not telling a soul in real life about the new dress except for my bff. she freaked out about the change, too, until she saw it! the sample was a bit too big and in the wrong color (stark white! i'm ordering it in ivory over gold) so i don't want to post the photos of me in it, but i may sketch the dress and post it here later :-)
now that we're getting married here, i don't think i've slept a wink! all i can do is think of centerpieces, and food, and flowers, and bridesmaid dresses (barf!), and how to tell people this venue is not appropriate for their little ones even though it's an afternoon wedding, etc., etc., etc.! i know my wedding is a year away, but has anyone else found themselves literally losing sleep worrying about the tiniest of details? it's like my mind is just going and going and i can't get it to just shut down for the night! uuugh!
The venue is gorgeous - and although the dress has that slit in it... I think you should still rock it. It's BEAUTIFUL! I hadn't seen it prior to this post, but I think regardless of the venue it's so amazing you could pull it off just about anywhere (maybe not a big Catholic mass, the priest might freak, but in this beautiful mansion... why not?) :) Just my 2 cents.
So glad you found this place - I think it'll be amazing!

Congrats! I just looked at the Sophia collection and immediately thought you may have picked the 'Heidi'......close?! lol
it's actually the meagan, but i HATE the website photo! you can't see any of the gorgeous ruching and details because the white is all blown out in the photo :-(
Bellamargot! I can't believe you're not going to wear that dress. You looked so smokin' hot in it! I understand that now it doesn't work, but I wish you could have 2 dresses:-)
I understand how the change has put so much more on your to do list. My 1st wedding was a DW to the Caribbean and I didn't have to think about a lot of things & couldn't worry about a lot of things because they were out of my control. Just bought the wedding package and hoped for the best! This time, there's picking the officiant, picking flowers, centerpieces, food-everything.
I love your new venue! So warm. Hope you get to do part of it outdoors! Congrats!
Don't you love it when everything falls into place?! Although I am with the others who said, I LOVED your original dress on you ... can't wait to see your new dress!! And YES, I have lost sleep on the TINIEST details even though our wedding is a year away - details I didn't even know existed before we were engaged ...
That is a great venue! I'm having my reception in a mansion, too and I love it! It looks very similar to the place you are having your ceremony/reception. I decided to have just the reception there because I really wanted my ceremony to be at the chapel at the college I went to (it's absolutely gorgeous)! But I would have loved to have both the ceremony and reception at the mansion, otherwise. I love the look and feel of mansion weddings. I'm sure you will love it and have a great wedding. And yes, your other dress was absolutely gorgeous on you but I'm sure this new one looks just as great on you! Good luck and have fun with all the new planning! Glad you found something you love!
Oooh awesome! I'm so glad you found everything that worked out for you!
BTW that house is suh-weet!
OMG! That house is beautiful! I know everyone is freaking out about you changing the dress, but... that venue... oh it's just *divine*!
Okay, so after commenting, I realized I sounded a little creepy being all obsessed with your dress. I've just never seen a dress look so perfect on someone I don't think. Glad to see I'm not the only one :)
I will admit, Sophia Meagan IS a gorgeous dress, and you'd better come back after the wedding and let us see pics if you're keeping her to yourself until then, hehe... :)
daydreamwanderer...you never sounded creepy at all! i'll definitely post photos of me in the meagan when mine comes in, and hopefully everyone will love it as much as the other gown :-)
FI's parents just told us they would gift us with a horse drawn carriage for our getaway!!!! Our venue is downtown and close enough to our wedding night hotel that the carriage can take us directly there! how cool will this be?!

Oh! It is very cool. You are going to be a total southern belle!
Wow. I clicked the link and what a glamorous history this mansion has! You're very lucky to get married in such a beautiful place. October is the best month ... I'm married in October this year! =)
I can't wait to see a picture of the new dress, your venue looks so romantic.

and by total i mean : location, type of venue, dress...well, pretty much everything but the fiance ;-)
we were originally planning a destination vegas wedding. we wanted to elope, but our family would have been crushed. so then the plan was to still go to vegas, but to keep it SUPER small (get hitched at one of the wedding chapels there with a small restaurant reception afterwards). once the guest list inched past 50 for our little vegas wedding, we decided to look for intimate venues here in the dallas/fort worth area. that's when we discovered the historic thistle hill mansion in fort worth:

can't you just picture scarlett o'hara sitting out on the front porch?! we were in LOVE with the outside, and when i saw the inside and that we could be married on this staircase, it was a done deal! the home was built as a wedding present to electra waggoner in 1904. they told us that she was known for throwing lavish parties and would always make a point of waiting until the party was in full swing before she would make her fashionably late entrance on this staircase...i LOVE it!
also, they told us that october is their busiest month for weddings and yet they still had our date (10/10/10) available! it was meant to be!
the house has been fully resored and is filled with beautiful antiques so i felt that my original dress was no longer appropriate for this beautiful venue. i hope some vegas bride rocks that dress, becuase it's PERFECT for there....but a slit up the thigh just didn't feel right in a home that was over a hundred years old :-)
my mom and i stopped in a dress shop near the venue that i'd originally picked out the other dress in and totally on accident found THE DRESS! i was determined to have a maggie gown because i'd never tried on any gown that fit as well as a maggie. well, i wasn't really paying attention to where the maggies stopped on the rack and i had my consultant pull a sophia tolli gown without even realizing it. i put it on and imediately knew it was the one! but, i'll save the sophia loving for another post :-)
we'd only put a $99 dollar deposit on the vegas chapel, and i was waiting to actually order my original dress in december when there was another trunk show (and another discount!). plus, we'll still get our "small" wedding since our venue only comfortably seats 80 for the ceremony. we are having an indoor/outdoor reception so i get the best of both worlds!
