I have seen those commercials, and to me it seems like they are saying the child is the “problem”.  When in my experience, it is usually a family issue that needs to be addressed.  I think that family counseling would be more beneficial.

I know a family who used it, and said it worked well.  #2 of their four kids has autism and is very aggressive, very smart, and can be borderline dangerous to the other kids at times.  They used that last I heard and really liked it.  Kids need the rules to be fair but always be the same, every time.  That continuity is important.  From what I heard, that’s what the program was good with.  

FWIW, this kid and her family do go to counseling as well.  Talking doesn’t fix everything, especially when someone doesn’t want the help (I”m not just saying that; I have some seriously messed up family members who’ve demonstrated it for years).
