ok – so my husband just called – he just got a call from our alarm company that our alarm at our house went off and they’ve notified the authorities…
i got sick last night so DH called to see if I’d stayed home or not and I told him no – i’d come into work – so he’s going home to check on everything and see what’s going on…
and so here i sit at work not able to do anything – freaking out!

I’m keeping my fingers crossed that everything’s okay.
Our house alarm went off once while we were away and it turned out some nieghbourhood kids had just gotten a little too close to one of the windows while playing. The loud noise they made triggered the alarm. Hopefully it’s something similar for you.

Dont worry, everything will be ok. it could be a faulty trigger.

Try to stay calm as impossible as that is right now until you hear from FI. And if it is anything lucklily noone was home. Do you have any animals? I know I accidently set the alarm wrong one morning and didn’t shut off the motion detector and my dog set it off.

Ah! I’d be freaking out too. I probably would of left work too, although its useless so I’m not suggesting you do that! Chances are its nothing, we’ve had alarm systems that just trip out for no reason, well, no valid reason. Its annoying, but no cause for concern. Please keep us posted!

Is it b/c of a power problem? That can set them off.
My parents’ alarm went off once b/c they shut a door (just enough so the wires engaged, but not enough to latch) and a wind blew it open and the alarm went bonkers.

we have no motion detector – just the front, back and glass break (in the living room). but my husband said it was the back door that set it off.
i’m hoping maybe i just didn’t shut it all the way and the wind possibly opened the door? our small dog (pug) is in the kitchen (where the back door is) and our big dog was locked up outside in our yard (gate closed so she couldn’t get inside)…we have a breezeway though connected from our back door to our garage and the two doors to THAT were closed…so i dunno if my theory could work or not…
he called 20 minutes ago and still nothing yet…

Our alarm goes off every once in a while for no real reason. It’s usually a faulty sensor. Hope everything is OK!

Eh my alarm went off twice and the police came. Turns out that my roommate wasn’t closing the front door fully (even though the deadbolt was locked) and when the wind blew it it made the alarm go off. lol

i hope everything is okay!
this happened to us once a few months back. i had to leave work and go find out what happened. too bad i live half an hour away and didn’t get back until the cops had left. it turned out that one of our dogs had gotten out of her cage and set it off! our alarm is supposed to be “pet-friendly”
ughhh. we though all sorts of crazy things. FI even thought that his big screen tv might have fallen off the wall and set it off.

well i’m home now – i had to…hubby called and said someone DID try kicking in the back door – the door jam is all messed up and we have a locksmith coming out.
the GREAT thing is – they didn’t get in. our locks and deadbolt held and they messed up the door jam pretty good. plus the alarm went off and musta scared them away.
so yeah – this totally sucks BUT it coulda been MUCH worse and i’m just SO thankful they didn’t get in.

Thank God they didn’t. Sorry this happened to you.

And thankfully you weren’t there when it happened!

i know – i had SERIOUSLY considered staying home this morning because I got sick last night and didn’t sleep AT ALL…both hubby and I ate something bad monday night and were both sick yesterday.

I’m glad everything is alright now, besides the replacing of the locks. But like you said it could’ve been much worse. Hope everything dies down and the guy gets caught.
