I bought my dress!  I think it is almost exactly 6 months before our wedding and I bought it this weekend!  I drove from Tallahassee and met my mom and sister in Jacksonville.  The southside Davids Bridal was wonderful.  The store was crowded but we had a great experience.  The staff was all calm and happy to be at work.

I was having trouble with a dress because I don't think I am really a lacy or fancy style of girl.  I was in love with the Maggie Sottero Adelaide but in the end I decided it was a nice evening dress style.  Not quite special enough for my wedding dress.

I found another really elegant dress at Davids but again, it was too elegant/fancy for my personality.  At the last minute our DB consultant pulled this dress.  It fit my personality perfectly.

For lack of a better term, we started calling it a swan dress.  It fits because we are having our wedding at the zoo.  I knew this was the dress because I did not want to take it off or have anyone else try it on.  Also, it was the first dress that I could imagine wearing when the church doors are pulled open.  And most importantly, I wanted to party down all night in this dress!  There is no way I would consider a reception dress!

This dress is so different, I do not think I am going to share with anyone besides my mom and sister.   I really want there to be a WOW factor.  I might have to share with my BMs because it is going to be hard to find BM dresses that goes with this.  I am trying to find a good way to describe this dress!

I love the luscious skirt portion!  You're completely right - swan does describe it!  I would say it's a fitted, strapless bodice with beading and then an a-line with piles of romantic chiffon ruffles.  I dig it!  Well done!

Thanks!  I am glad that after 2 nights of sleeping on the decision, I am still really happy with the dress.  By the way, it is from Davids Bridal, by Monique Luo style CH515.

I am adding a poll to this post:

Should I show my BM's the dress before the wedding?  I really wanted to keep it a surprise, but I am not sure how to help them pick out a style of dress that matches the dress without them seeing it (the bottom of my dress is organza).

We are going back to DB this Sunday, so I have to decide before then!

Also, if you have any suggestions on what type of material/shape of dress would work please let me know.  I am thinking long dresses in an olivine/fern color but any shade of green close to that would work.

I think I'd consider a sweetheart neckline, but if you do a really glam necklace with it it would be equally as awesome. I love that dress for a wedding at a zoo!

Are you doing long or short BM dresses? I like the idea of playing with textures or beadwork for your BM dresses.

Gorgeous!  Yes, unfortunately I think you need to.  I know everyone wants to keep it a surprise for that 'AH!' moment down the aisle, but your 'maids are supposed to be your 'inside man' and help you out with everything!  Asking them to help pick out a dress without seeing yours is like asking someone to color a picture with no crayons.....

Update!  I just went to DB today on my lunch break by myself.  I had them pull out my dress (unfortunately they only have in white and I ordered ivory) and I think we found a good BM dress that goes well.   I can't seem to find it on the DB website though. It is a strapless polyester blend with some beading under the chest.  The material looked like it would go really well with the material of the skirt.

We looked at Chiffon and it is too "dull" of material for the shiny beading.  The satin dresses are too shiny and formal.  The only other option DB has is a cotton (too informal) or a jersey knit.  I think the jersey knit will hug all of the wrong places on some of my girls.

We go on Sunday to try them on!

I just had to say that you and I are like the absolute same!  I also loved the Adelaide dress, it looked good on, but i'm not as simple as that dress was, I like something a bit more fun, and different but still wanted to feel beautiful. I have not tried onthis dress yet, but I am searching for dresses with the ruffles as this one has!  Maybe I'll end of loving it too!

I am so excited to get to put this dress on next Saturday.

I am still totally in love with it.  I asked the seamstress about a sweet heart but decided not to.  I am going to wear a very small pearl/chain necklace and some small earings. I really don't want to take away from the dress.

I can't wait for my FI to see, I don't think its anything he's expecting!

Holy cow. I got my dress from DB and if I saw this one, I would have definetely tried it on. I also got mine in ivory, am getting married at a zoo, and chose green for the BM's (although we chose the kelly color).

I say keep it secret from FI. I am. I want him to cry when he sees me. Lol.
