We just got into a kick where we’re changing our light switches to ones with timers, motion sensors and stuff, but some only came in white, so now we’re changing all our other switches to match the white. We had a ivory or almond color which sort of blended into the yellowy walls. So now I’m paying a lot of attention to the color of my switches but, is that something people typically notice? And if you do? Do you have a preference?

As long as they are white or an off-white colour and are the same colour within a room, I don’t really notice. There are black ones, and I don’t like those unless it fits in better with the paint colour.

I voted Other because I notice them in my own home, but not other people’s homes and I like for them to match the room they are in, but they don’t all have to match everywhere in the house.

I notice them if they are bad. LOL The previous owners of our home painted all of the light switch covers with the wall color, so I notice them every time I touch them because they feel rough when my brain says that they should feel smooth. It bothers the heck outta me. Changing all light switch covers in the house is on my to-do list.

I voted yes, I notice but I prefer other. I only notice them in my own house and I like them to go with whatever room they’re in. I notice all the little picky details like that at home but not as much anywhere else. I even have replaced all my floor vents with decorative ones in rubbed bronze or brushed nickel, depending on the floors in each room (dark hardwood or tile).

I totally notice, but i’m a lighting designer. so i’d also be examining the fixtures they were switching, what type of lamp you were using, and how evenly the light was distributed in the room. comes with the job. kudos to you for upgrading to more energy efficient controls!
i’m probably not the norm though 🙂
