I've been having an awful waiting week...a having trouble sleeping, won't even let myself log into Facebook to avoid meltdowns from finding out about more engagements type of week. I'm really upset about how long it's taking my boyfriend to find a new job.  Our original plan was that our LDR would end summer of 2012, but he recently signed on for another year of his contract.  So now my light at the end of the tunnel is gone, and I'm starting to lose it.

But...we are going on a tropical vacation together next week, then there's Valentine's Day, then our 5 year anniversary in early March.  Trying so hard not to get my hopes up.  If nothing happens by our anniversary, I plan to insist on a timeline.  He doesn't get to play the "total surprise" card anymore if we get to that point.  But I sure hope we don't!

Aww, hang in there. I think it's entirely fair for you to insist on a timeline after your anniversary. I mean, there needs to be some confirmation that you'll be together and married in the forseeable future-- otherwise I would go crazy with the indefinite LDR! Hopefully (maybe?) he has something planned for one of these events coming up... do you have any suspicions or is it truly going to be a "total surprise"?

btw, a tropical vacation sounds wonderful!! :)

I am a tiny bit suspicious for two reasons.   First, he commented that he was excited about the Valentines Day gift he wants to give me "if he has time to get it" (the guy works 100+ hour weeks).   That is weird because he has said in the past that we don't exchange gifts for Valentines Day (we normally get dinner).  Also, when I asked for a concrete timeline last month, he got this awkward grin on his face and said "I refuse to answer that question, but we're on the same page."  His mannerisms gave me the impression that he was thinking soon and I didn't want to ruin it or push it back further so I dropped it.

Oh try not to fret! It really seems like (from what you've explained) that he IS on the same page as you! I think when the men are ready and in a good place, they know how much we want it! Sometimes they are just waiting for that perfect moment to do it =) And girlfriend when he does do it omggggggggggggg you are going to drop dead with excitement! Just hang in there, you have a lot of promising events coming up!! :)
