As you know, I have a pretty traditional RB solitiare:
The problem is, this is the wedding ring I have fallen in love with:
Don’t know why that’s sideways. Anyway … do you think I could pull this look off? SO thinks absolutely not. I can’t see the ring in person to try on until a trip in March to a city with a Cartier store … what would you do? The traditional half eternity look isn’t really doing it for me (no offense to anyone who has that, it’s just not for me I don’t think)!
ETA: Post pictures of your nontraditional bands please!

I think you can do whatever you want? Do you like them? If yes, then rock it!
My e-ring & wedding band came in a matching set, however – sometimes I want something, different & colorful, so I bought a stand in sapphire band.

They don’t match by any means, but I still love the look!

Sure, I think it’s fine. I think a traditional solitaire lends itself nicely to being paired with any style of wedding band.

@jenilynevette: Ooo I do too! Love the pink. It’s hard when I can’t get a visual of the Cartier love wedding band on my finger (at least not yet). Thanks for your input!

Personally, I find anything that is clearly identified as a certain brand, would be better as a right hand ring. That Cartier style screams “Cartier” so much those may as well be logos, and that’s fine, but to me, I want my wedding set to scream “my husband!!” not “brand name!!”, KWIM?
I think you should get that ring but not as a wedding band. If you like Cartier, they make a bunch more “weddingy” bands.
PS I don’t really prefer eternity wedding bands myself, but I wouldn’t call them traditional. Traditional would be a solid precious metal band with rounded edges.

thank you, that does make sense. the problem is i dont wear other jewelry much and wanted the wedding band to be IT, you know?

Do it! Lol, because I am! I absolutely love the look of the Cartier Love/Wedding band paired with the classic solitaire engagement ring. As a matter of fact, I recently got engaged 2 months ago and have a round brilliant with micropave shank. But when I knew that I wanted to get either the white gold or rose gold Cartier wedding band I decided to have my diamond re-set into a plain Tiffany style solitaire instead..
The picture above is what motivated me, it’s from a blogger on Instagram name ‘Belluspuera’. Love the idea of it together, or the band itself makes quite a statement when traveling or handling (future) babies/toddlers. 😉
