Is anyone else using traditional vows? I’ll be vowing to love, honour and obey my husband (I’ve never cared much about feminism, the man should be the head of the house in my opinion) but I know this a huge issue for some people.

We had traditional-esque vows. “I choose you X to be my lawfully wedded husband. To love and to comfort, …” etc etc.
Our minister no longer includes “obey” in his version of the traditional vows, so we didn’t have that part. I really like the traditional vows, and we had a few married couples at our wedding come up to us after and tell us that it reminded them of the vows they said many many years ago on their wedding day.
I say, if you and your fiance like the traditional vows, use em 🙂

We will be doing the traditional vows at our wedding.

Some people refer to them as “Time-honored vows” which I like the sound of.
We’re attempting to write our own. Should be interesting! 😛

I like the traditional vows. I wouldn’t ever include the term Obey personally as I don’t hold the belief that the male/husband should be the ‘head of the household’.
That said, I think if the vows are truly heartfelt and both partners agree to them go for it!
