@love108: I have... I just am not thrilled with Ivory. It's really between white and silver for me. But thank you for the suggestion. :-)
That dress still looks very bridal to me, and if it lookks good on you then buy it.
No use wearing a dress you're not happy with. You only get one day, so shine!
What size are you? I have a Kenneth Pool Minuet for sale in a size 8. It has a few things that need fixing...PM me if you want to learn more about it. I'm asking $1250. It was originally $7100. Thanks!

I think the dress is very pretty but it doesn't look all that bridal to me, it looks more red carpet....
@lvecchione: No problem...just thought I'd mention it! Good luck!
Well, some brides choose to marry in champagne-colored dresses, so I don't see any reason why you couldn't wear silver.
@Brielle: Silver is so... ME! it's really just my mother holding back my decision....
The Josie, but I have seen silver dresses that look bridal, for me i think the style of it combined with it not being white makes it look like an evening gown that a celebrity would wear. But gorgeous none the less.
@Missloveknot: I do see what you mean though. Every now and then I get this twinge of "it looks more prom than bridal..." but that is usually short lived. I do really love the dress.
I haven't purchased this dress yet, It should be in in a month for me to try on for the first time. :-) Along with the other dress I am looking at. Private Label By G 1370. http://www.privatelabelbyg.com/assets/download/626/12730046181370.pdf I do like this one also but it only comes in white and ivory. I will definitely see next month when I try them on but in the meantime, :-D
It doesn't look prom to me at all though, that is a bad description! Have you looked at other silver dresses? I just did a quick search on google images and there so many options. You will be more sure when you try it on!
Hey, if your heart is set on silver...GO 4 IT! It's your big day and you want to feel beautiful. If you aren't wild about how white/ivory compliments your skin tone, then you are not going to feel your best in that color.
If you end up not going with the silver dress and continue looking, try more ivory. Each line's ivory is different, and ivory in general usually looks more flattering than white. You might also like champagne dresses.
IMO, wear silver if it makes you happy!
@brenda.m.fields: Good suggestion, if this one doesn't work out I will try that.
For what it's worth, I say go with whatever colour feels right to you. That little voice inside is speaking . . .
I think you should wear what color you want, and silver sounds beautiful. My only hangup in this situation is that this particular dress does not look bridal to me in silver. I actually thought it was a bridesmaid's dress when I clicked the link before reading your description. So, that's just something to consider, but at the end of the day, if you love it, and it makes you feel how YOU want to feel on YOUR wedding day, go for it!
Definitely make yourself happy~ its YOUR day!
But I would not have you AND YOUR BMs in Silver...
so if you wore silver, what color would your BMs wear?
I'm going to agree with Missloveknot, the color combined with the style is what's making it look less bridal to me. If you have your heart set on silver, try looking for a dress with a different shade of silver, personally I like the shade of this one: http://www.projectwedding.com/wedding-dresses/designer/tara-keely/2911?a6=20&a=b&offset=127
Then again, it's your dress and your day, you should do whatever you feel will make you happy :)
I tried this on by Maggie... It was ivory which I was soooo against and a silver overlay! I liked it so much but was too busy for my simple wedding.
I was def. removing that sash under the bust!! But it was fabulous!! I do not remember the style # sry!
I like the silver! It wouldn't go with a veil at all though idk if you care about that..
I think you should go with the color you want. I doubt that the issue of dress color could be an issue that lasts past or even to the wedding.
I love different color choices!
I like the silver and think you should go for it! I have italian olive skin too but I love the way white contrasts, it works for me. I am wearing silver to my shower and love the way it looks too.
Some of Maggie Sottero's models have olive skin, and they look beautiful in the silver!

More colors are popping up in bridal, so it's a really up and coming fashion! The gown I purchased is called lavender/silver (it's a Mia Solano dress) and I found a gorgeous silver veil on etsy that goes perfectly with it! You can totally find the right accessories to go along with it. I had found a white dress that I liked, but I couldn't get the lavender one out of my head, so I knew I'd regret it if I didn't buy it and would always wonder... =o)
100% silver - it's my fave colour & I'm wanting a silver wedding dress myself.
As for tradition - I'm sure I've heard/read somewhere that "back in the day" wedding dresses were traditionally silver until Queen Victoria got a white one & sparked a trend we now consider tradition.

Queen Mary I and King Philip of Spain at their wedding, and she's definitely not wearing white... royalty wore textiles of silver and gold, according to National Geographic =o) Sorry, I love the renaissance era and couldn't help myself!
One of the blogging bees from a few years ago (I've been around here awhile but I think she was a 2010 bride) got married in a custom silver dress. She was from South Africa so maybe a serch would help if you do not know who I am talking about. She also felt white did not go with her skin tone and looked great in her photos. Maybe seeing a "real bride" in a silver dress will sway your mom to your side.
If you love the silver then I think you should get the silver. I think it looks plenty bridal in the stock photo and am sure it would be gorgeous with blue bridesmaids. It's hard for our mothers to give up their visions of white but maybe showing her pictures of real weddings with silver brides would help.
I was looking for a light grey dress but couldnt really find one. I tried on some silver dresses and they all looked too shiny on my pale skin, but if it looks good on you go for it!
Your mom will come around once she sees how happy you are :)

I am in love with Maggie Sottero's Josie. In silver. Mother dearest thinks I should wear white but white does not even look good on my italian olive skin... Silver is one of my favorite colors and when my fiance and I were discussing bridesmaid colors we agreed blue and he suggested blue and silver... a sign? I think yes. Opinions please. http://www.maggiesottero.com/dress.aspx?keywordText=josie&keywordType=any&page=0&pageSize=15&style=J1356
