With there being so many different options out there compared to what there used to be, I’m curious about what you guys have done for some usually tradional items that have gotten more unique lately!
Am I missing anything?? Let’s add to the list as we go!
I’ll go first!
Guest Book: Mad libs! Guest will each have one on their plate and drop it in a lantern by the end of the night (that’s the plan anyways)
First Dance: 1000 years by Christina Perri.. we think. Our wedding is in like 2 weeks so we better confirm!
Shoe Colour: Fuscia! With there open toe 3 inch pumps.
Something old: My grandmas pearl ring/bracelet
Something borrowed: Same as something old!
Something blue: My mom got us a blue Swarovski pen to sign our marriage lisence with!
Something new: My dress/shoes
Programs: Fairly standard I think, but with a timeline across the bottom that shoes everyone what’s happening that night.
Decor: Mainly just flowers, with some candles. We wanted to do a lantern theme, but couldn’t find enough we liked. We are putting our cards and madlibs in a lantern, as well as hanging paper lanterns from the cieling of the tent.

- Wedding: August 2011 - St. Joseph's Parish, Seattle Tennis Club
Aww. I like this!
Guest Book: We made a photobook of our engagement pictures and left lots of white space for guests to sign.
First Dance: Ben Harper’s Forever
Shoe Colour: Purple, with sparkly purple bows!
Something old: My grandparent’s wedding bands tied to my bouquet
Something borrowed: A pearl and silver brooch my mom received while living in Japan when she was younger
Something blue: Polo Ralph Lauren Blue purfume 🙂
Something new: New pearl earrings
Programs: We slapped together a quick program for a Catholic mass on nicer paper (really, nothing fancy). Also listed the main people on there (bridal party, etc)
Decor: You know, we really didn’t have much. Just our beautiful centerpieces, flowers on the cake table, and candy buffet! 🙂
And I’m adding:
Bouquet/Garter Toss: Nope! We didn’t do either
Post # 5
Oh good addition!! We are undecided about the bouquet/garter.. we really need to decide though. We are slacking on some of these decisions!
Guest Book: We’re having our guests sign a photo mat with one of our engagement photos as the center.
First Dance: Our first dance will be on our honeymoon. Or in our living room. Whichever comes first.
Shoe Colour: Not terribly untraditional I guess, but they’re silver sparkly Vera Wang wedge sandals.
Something old: My mom’s garter from my parents wedding from ’79. Still happily married!
Something borrowed: My bra. Yay for the same size boobies as friends!
Something blue: I dyed my crinoline a royal blue. FI’s family is already making faces about us not getting married in a church. I expect to hear some gasps at my pop of color!
Something new: Again, not too untradtional, but my dress/wedding ring.
Programs: No programs.
Decor: Fall primarily with touches of our personalities and intrests. Fiance is a firefighter and I am an equestrian, so there will be a few subtle firefighter touches and hints of ponies. 😉 We’re also using my parents’ 1963 Chevy impala as our getaway car, so there are a few vintage touches.
