@tmsing:  yeah you’re not supposed to take supplements at the same time as pharma drugs. I believe you need to wean yourself off the seroquel completely as well as the other drug you are taking first. Try to have some relaxation techniques ready for this transition, get very very good sleep, eat well – I never thought these things were super important but realize now that they are. Once you ‘re off the pharma, gradually start the St. John’s Wort. Maybe even take a few days off from work and stay home during the transition to avoid any triggers.

@tmsing:  I heard that valerian herbal tea can help you sleep and help with anxiety. I actually forgot all about it until I just saw your post. I think I might try it, too. It’s supposed to be natural.

@tmsing:  Be very careful with the natural supplements. I tried St Johns Wort, and within a day I started bleeding (was also on the pill). Any natural supplements for me seem to give me massive headaches – I’m not sure why. But they can also interact with other medications/medical conditions and be completely unsuitable for some people.

I strongly recommend discussing any major changes to medications with a professional eg, your doctor/psychiatrist and a naturopath, before changing anything. My SO was taking antidepressants and suddenly stopped, and had severe rebound – to the point where I took him immediately to the doctor and had to keep a close eye on him until he was back on the tablets and stable. There may not be a natural alternative for some of the medications you are on.
