I am starting another poll! I wanted to know what you did or are planning to do with your wedding day dress after everything is said and done. I just found out about the whole trash the dress thing and I really don’t understand it but I don’t judge it either. I think if I were ever to get divorced I could see trashing a gown, and I love the guy that was stuck with his ex wife’s wedding dress and started a blog.
I know this was posted here some time ago but I am going to post the link again http://myexwifesweddingdress.com/donate-a-dress/
I was wondering after all the planning is over what do most modern brides do with their dresses. I know back in the day most women kept them. I am lucky for that trend because I will be wearing my mom’s beautiful dress and I am excited! I will actually probably have it pressed and put it in the preservation box thing for the further future.
But what will you do? Keep it, sell it, trash it, donate it? And why?

i donated mine to the The Brides Project in Ann Arbor, MI (http://www.thebridesproject.org/) to benefit cancer support programs. i considered keeping it and shortening it but honestly, when will i wear a fancy white dress, even a short one? i also considered selling it and even posted it once or twice with no luck. seemed like donating it would be a better move than letting it sit in my closet forever!

Mine was designed and sewed for me by one of my best friends, so it has 2x the sentimental value. 🙂 I could never part with it.
I had it dry cleaned and then I preserved it in a box, using an at-home preservation kit.

*sigh* It’s been a year, I havent had it cleaned yet.. and its just hanging in the closet.

Mine is getting cleaned right now. If it comes back in great condition I am selling it. If not, I am doing a trash the dress photoshoot.

I am taking it home and will probably bring it to get cleaned when I get back from the honeymoon. My original plan is to try it on ever year for a few years just to get to put it on again, but who knows.
I definitely want to keep it and look back 20 years from now and wonder if I’ll still love it.

I am extraordinarily sentimental and I wish that my Mom had chosen to preserve her wedding dress…so, I plan on saving mine and hopefully my (future) daughter will want to do something with it some day! It’s all hand-sewn lace from Spain…she better want to use some of it! 🙂

I am keeping mine. I will have it cleaned right after the wedding. Too sentimental. 🙁

Mine is just sitting in the closet. I cleaned it in the shower. I hope to have a garden party in the future or take more pictures. I don’t want it to just sit in a box for no reason.

Probably going to do a trash the dress. It suits our personalities 🙂

I got mine dry cleaned and now it just hangs in my closet. Thought about sellIng it but probably wouldnt get much for it do just hanging onto it. I would definitely lend it out if I knew a friend or family member who needed one. I lent my grad dress out three times.. No takers on the wedding dress yet though.

Lol I guess I should have included hanging it in the closet as an option! I’m sure there are many bees who have done this.
