So the economy is tanking pretty hard and the cost of weddings is not tanking with it, so I am noticing that more and more people are cutting their honeymoon (either location, length, or not going at all!).

Here are some ideas for the time being are relativiely cheap to travel too:

    1. Monterey Bay California -- Flights are relatively cheap to California right now and you can find some amazing places to stay right on the beach for a great deal.  Like Clement Monterey (a four star hotel) for $179/night right on the ocean.  Its a beautiful location with amazing weather.
    2. Hawaii -- You may have to bargain hunt for flights (ie travel on weekdays, but cheap flights can be found).  Resorts in Hawaii are also running cheap, for example Poipu Beach Resorts (a bed and breakfast) for $145/night or Outrigger Waipouli Beach Resort & Spa for $133/night.
    3. South Africa -- Flights are a bit more expensive expect to pay $1200 r/t per person, but you can stay at a 3-star hotel Protea Hotel Fire and Ice  for $110/night.
    4. Cruise Europe -- Royal Carribbean has a 4 night cruise in Europe for $350 and yes that is all inclusive (except for airfare to Barcelona).

The key is people are not traveling right now so even places you though you could not afford are slashing prices just to get the income to their locale.

    Happy Travels!

Thanks for the tips!  I'd also like to add Bali to the list.  Plane tickets are a little pricey but everything on the island is super affordable, from resort prices to water activities to admission tickets to famous landmarks.

If you are willing to be a bit flexible, American Airlines has NetSaver fares that come out a week ahead of schedule and are good about a month after they come out.  This will get you some of the most amazing fares to great places.  The bad thing is that you won't know where you are going until a month before.

Trust me, the South Africa trip is DEFINITELY worth it.  Everything is so inexpensive once you get there.  If you have the cash, definitely upgrade to business.  The 20 hour flight is a KILLER in coach.
