    Hey Ladies!

DH and I have agreed that we need a travel system. Baby is due June 1st so it would get a lot of use the first year. Im sure that next summer we'll get a smaller more maneuverable stroller but the travel system is what we'll start with.

Anyways, I have a budget of around $250 so the following brands are in my price range. What are you planning to use/what did you use and what do you recommend?

    Thanks!

We have the Graco Alano with the Snugride 35.  It's been fine for what we needed, and if it watch closely, you can get it on sale for about $150.

I have a travel system and wish I'd never gotten it because we wear Wombat so much. Before, we both thought that we needed one and now, the stroller just sits there. Have you thought about wearing your baby? Before I had Wombat, I thought baby wearing was strange, but it's awesome.

@TheFutureMcBride:  We almost always wear Addie, too.  Once I got pregnant again, though, I couldn't wear her anymore, so when it's just us girls, I have to use the stroller.  :(  It's good to have on hand for those excursions, but the majority of the time, we prefer the carrier, too.

I had a Graco and it was good. I used to work in a big-box baby store and the Graco's were definitely the most popular. I'd suggest seeing if they have any floor models on clearance. You can often find high end travel systems for half off when they change up the displays!

I got a Graco travel system with my oldest and it had stood up throught the test of time and two children. Dh and I were laughing the other day because we do have to grease the wheels every once in a while or they squeek, but for the 10 years of use it has really stood up well.

@Mrs. Spring:  We also can't fit the stroller into the trunk, so it has to go in the back seat beside Wombat. If we have another, there's no way I could ever use a stroller. It's one of those things we didn't think about until we got it home and put together.

    Thanks for the replies!

I do plan to wear baby, but I also want the option to place the car seat onto a stroller. I want a stroller that isnt too big and after playing around with the floor models at lunch time I've falling for Saftey 1st Alpha Sport Travel System. http://yahoo.shoptoit.ca/shop/product--productId_6084106.html - here it is on yahoo as I couldnt find it on the store's website.

I asked this same question in a Moms group that I went to with a friend for the first time last week, and every single one of them attempted to talk me out of it. I decided to register for a City Mini after hearing their thoughts.

mwitter80 - I love that stroller! It looks like it's a manageable size (and so cute), some of the strollers out there were monstrous!

I think what drew me to this one http://www.safety1st.ca/eng/Products/Travel/Strollers/Travel-Systems/Details/4086-01485CAXR-Safety-1st-Alpha-Sport-TS is that it is small enough that I will actually use it. All my mom friends told me I'd be using a $20 umbrella stroller by the time baby is a year. I guess time will tell!

@mrsjets:  It really also folds up in one swoop with no issue. It's pretty shocking how easy it is to handle. They sell a car seat adapter for it.

We have the Graco Ben travel system and love it.  I use the stroller for going to the mall as of right now. Once summer comes, that thing will be in use all the time.  I have worn muchkin around the house but he gets heavy and hurts my back so I rather have a stroller...

We're going with Britax. The B-Agile stroller and the B-Safe carseat.

Here's a video I saw of them being used together when I was researching: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=uOAqN8wNdNw

I originally wanted the Citi Mini stroller, but when I went to the store to test-drive, the B-Agile stroller was much smoother and I liked the handlebar better. The Citi Mini comes in more colors, which is why I really wanted to like it better. But the B-Agile is coming up with a couple new colors this spring that appease me. (I think I'm going to get Kiwi green.)

We also bought the Graco alano travel system with the snugride car seat.  DH and I got it for 70% off at Target and couldn't pass it up (it was under 100 bucks) We have an SUV so I don't think the size will be too big of an issue.

@abbyful:  This is the one we're getting too. I'm hoping the stroller will hold up better on non-paved roads than some of the others.

We ended up going with the Baby Trend Expedition ELX travel system. I wanted something with 3 wheels so I could use it for power walking. And DH is super tall and the handle height worked better for him than the Graco Metropolitan we were also looking at.

ETA: Baby isn't due until May, so I haven't actually used it yet.

I have a Safety 1st travel system. (This one). It looks like it folds the same way as the Alpha Sport you are looking at. It is difficult to fold one handed and you definitely need two hands to open it, or it will fall over. Also on ours, the canopy and handle are all scuffed up from hitting/rubbing on the ground when it is folded up. It also doesn't always click/lock when you pull it open. It could just be a flaw with mine, but overall I think it contributes to the mediocre quality. Also the car seat that comes with it is heavy and takes a lot of front to back space in both of our midsize sedans. But we did use it until DS was 8 months old (he's 90%+ though, so with most babies you could use it longer). I don't know if I would opt for a carseat with a lower weight limit or not, even though it is pretty big and heavy.

Also, the Safety 1st carseat does not work with many off brand strollers. We eventually bought a baby jogger summit jogging stroller, and there is not an adapter for the Safety 1st carseats. We have never used the travel system stroller by itself, and won't, so I wish I had bought a snap n go, a graco carseat so that it would work with our jogger (or other more popular carseat like Chicco) and skipped the travel system.

I think there are many options out there that are better quality and equally if not more convenient to use for the same price, or close to it.

@mrsjets:  What we did, and I'm happy we did.. is get the Jeep Urban Stroller which can double as a jogging stroller, and it's compatible with almost any infant car seat! We got the S1 by Safety First OnBoard35 Air infant seat and tried it out in the store and loved it! We jogged up and down the aisles. That infant seat is a little longer/deeper than most (especially the common graco snugride, which will generally only fit a baby up to 6 mos old), and still fit great. So whichever infant seat you choose, it will more than likely fit in the jeep stroller.

I like the quality of the stroller without the bulk of a travel system, and it's a great price compared to other three-wheel strollers.

I as well plan to baby-wear as much as possible, so I wanted to be sure to get a stroller that would work for jogging, since I plan to baby-wear if I'm only walking.

Good luck in your decision! and congrats on the babe :)

Since we live in NYC and walk absolutely everywhere, buying a stroller is like buying a car. I think I'm going to get the UppaBaby Vista.

We bought the Graco Alano Flip travel system that comes with a Snugride carseat and base. I had no issue pushing it around both forwards and with the handle facing backwards. We paid about $200 for it.

we are also using the city mini. the travel system strollers were just too bulky for my liking and the city mini is so easy to fold up. then we bought the adaptor so we can just place the infant car seat on it.
