I like the idea of a suitcase for cards, you can definitely use maps with some type of paper stuff for the wedding. I like the idea of postcards for table decor. for favors, you can have luggage tags. maybe look at different wedding traditions around the world for some things to do. maybe something to do with passports would be cool too.
My father got married earlier this year and had a travel theme. The place cards were luggage tags. And instead of table numbers, he named the tables by places that they had visited together accompanied with pictures of them at the location. And for small favors along with the luggage tags, they had mini tin suitcases with handles and wheels filled with mints and candies.
@calico61979: 2nd the suitcase/card box idea. We used a vintage suitcase that belonged to my grandmother. I bought vintage travel stickers to stick all over it.

This is my theme too and I LOVE IT! I made save the dates in the form of a plane ticket. my inviation is going to be a passport. The stamps are our flags of the states.
I will have luggage tags as escort cards. My guest book will be escort cards that I will have instructions for them to write something, wedding wisdom if you will, and then pushpin it to a map on a place they visited & loved & think we should travel! The table names will be a place we traveled together & have a picture of us there. The cards will go in a vintage suitcase.... I CANT WAIT to see how it all comes together!

Any ideas for a travel themed wedding? We love maps and traveling (recently got engaged in New Zealand), and I'd love to somehow incorporate this into our big day. Instead of table numbers, I've considered naming them after places we've visited together. What else? Show photos, too!
