In terms of big trips, what's next on your travel list?
My husband and I plan on -life willing- going overseas again for our 5 year anniversary.
I'm thinking Budapest, Hungary! Don't ask me why, I saw something somewhere a month or two ago. My husband has two other countries he wants to see, I forget. hehe.
And hopefully before then we can plan a trip with my family back to China to visit relatives and squeeze in a couple days in Hong Kong.
What's on yours?
Well, we have our honeymoon next year that is still TBD. But most likely will be St. Lucia :)
For our 1 year wedding anniversary we are hoping to visit Italy, because it's been a goal of ours. Hoping all our plans work out :)
DH really wants to go to Ireland and would like to do that next summer if possible. I spent a semester abroad there so I'm not totally sold on the idea. Don't get me wrong, I loved the country but I'd kind of like to go someplace new.
Maybe a combined Ireland/Scotland/England trip would sway me.
After our cruise in December our next big trip we plan on doing is California! My bf just moved to San Francisco and we have a tradition of visiting her in NYC on her bday every year but since shell be in SF it gives us good reason to go...and a free place to stay!
Budapest sounds like it be amazing! I get bit by the travel bug often I wish I was rich enough to go whenever wherever. Not doing any trips this summer with trying to save. tear. Just some day trips/weekends at the shore. Our wedding is going to be in vegas so that's the next trip on the list. Cant wait! But were honeymooning in malta which Im even more excited for. We wanted to go to Thailand but its just quite far from the east coast, one day. sigh. The world is just too big!!
Italy was beautiful. I hope you get to go!
We started our HM in Ireland and the ferry ride from Rosslare, Ireland to Fishguard, Wales (3hrs train ride outside of London) was THE BEST ferry ride ever. I felt like I was on a cruise ship!!!
If you do I have an awesome studio apt reco, very affordable and view of Eiffel tower. :)
I really want to see California and San Francisco! I have a college friend that lives in LA and I'm secretly hoping she invites me to her baby shower so I have a reason to go!!
Sigh, I hear you. We have been wanting to see Europe for 10+ years and finally bit the bullet for our HM. We already want to go back but need time to save benjamins. hehe.
Italy
I've done a lot of Europe but I've never been to Italy
I'm not sure what the critera is to make a trip "big" but i will start ours in a few months. Lots of day stops around the world but longer stops include. Palau, Nepal, Maldives, Vienna, London. Home a week before christmas!
We JUST booked our trip to CA for late August. We're doing San Fran, Napa, Big Sur, and LA--so excited!!
@Gerbera: Oooo please PM me, that sounds awesome!
I'm due in less then a month, so big trips just aren't on our minds now. It's very far away, but I'd like to go to Israel when our daughter becomes a Bat Mitzvah, b/c that's what I did. As for now, our next trip is camping in 4 months.
There's still SO much of Europe -the world!- I want to see!
I was just thinking a trip that you have wanted to do for a long time. Not a quick weekend trip to the shore/cabin. And omg how long are you gone for??? Pretty sure that qualifies as "big". Just a tad. :D
SO jealous! I desperately want to visit Napa Valley. We love touring vineyards.
Our next big trip won't be till 2015! A trip to Israel for your daughter's Bat Mitzvah sounds perfect.
Well do a big trip next year, just not sure where yet. This year was our honeymoon and then other smaller trips home to New England, to Vegas and maybe another weekend or two someplace like Santa Barbara.
@Gerbera: I went to Budapest for spring break in college with a few of my girlfriends. It was really cool, there was a lot to see and that town definitely knows how to party. We went there, Prague and Vienna, which I would suggest because a full week might be a but much in Budapest.
It's so funny that this thread came up this morning because FI and I wrote out a list of trips we want to take just last night. First up for us is probably New Orleans because we were lamenting that we've travelled more outside our own country than within it!
Hopefully Machu Picchu and Italy next year! Trying to squeeze a few more big trips in before a baby.
My list of places I want to travel is so long that I never know what will actually be next until we book the trip (and we don't have anything major booked coming up).
But the trip that I haven't taken that is my "must do before I die" trip is an African safari.
I used to LOVE traveling when I was in college and shortly after, but good thing I got it out of my system, cuz FI HATES traveling! So, it looks like there's not much for us in the future, and fine with me! (I have decided I do not like crowded, unorganized, late, public transportation, showers with cold water, places where the electricity often goes out, places where I cannot drink the water, etc, and I do like free, clean, public toilets!)
We've been to Asia 3 times and Europe once in the last 2 years. While DH has travelled much more than I have, I've never been to Central or South America before, so that might be next on our list!
For our next big trip we have set our sights on Scotland. . I can't wait until we have saved up enough to go!
Our honeymoon. J and I were looking up cruises last night. Most likely going on a 7 day cruise to Bermuda. :) He's very excited about it. He'd like to go now if he could.
The honeymoon - it's a surprise to me but I have a hunch it'll be an all-inclusive in Greece and/or Italy. I've been to both and loved them soooooo much, I'd jump at the chance to go back, especially with FI! We made it to Paris last year and that was insane, I'm jealous of those who are planning to go!!
I've done a bit of research on Budapest and that's what a lot of sites are saying. I would love to take a daytrip to the countryside as well! There's also so much of the US I want to see!
Manchi Picchu would be AWESOME!
hehe. I hear you, there's so many places we want to see. So little time, so little money!
I hope to one day take a big SE Asia trip!!!
Scotland is defintely on our future list! If only for St. Andrews (golf) ;)
I can always go for a beach vacation! :)
I LOVE cruising. We are so overdue for one.
That sounds awesome!
I have a trip to Scotland planned for August. I've been to Scotland before, but I have friends getting married. We're going to do the Fringe Festival while we're there :)
I'm probably going to go to Cambodia in Spring 2012. I have some friends moving there, so I might as well spend spring break with them :)
We are going on a cruise to Bermuda in November, to Hawaii for our honeymoon in 2012, and to Italy in 2013! I also have friends living in Nepal and Costa Rica who I'd like to visit, but who knows if time/money will permit.
Ging has never even been out of our province so we have such a long list!
Vegas, Cuba, Mexico, Paris, Rome, Athens, Cairo, Sydney, Kenya, Tokyo.
Ideally, I'd love to visit every continent (except Antarctica.. as much as I love penguins, that's just not appealing to me)
Hopefully Europe! But we went to Vegas, San Diego and LA last year (all one trip) and just came back from our honeymoon in the Cancun area, so I think it's gonna be a while before we go on another trip.
In October, we are going to NYC for our one year anniversary (I've never been, DH has been several times).
Next year, we want to do Costa Rica or maybe Peru!
we just got back from Ayers Rock (hubbys surprise birthday trip) and this time next week we are heading off to North Sulawesi for 2 weeks, in August (my birthday) we are heading to Alaska (fingers crossed for northern lights), christmas will be New Zealand/south island for 2 weeks and we are already planning next year to Malapascua for march :)
I have traveled a lot, but FI has not. I have been to: Greece, Turkey, Egypt, the Netherlands, Austria, Germany, Italy, France, England, Canada, and Mexico.
FI really wants to finish touring all of the states and then wants to go to Turkey, England and Italy. After that we were thinking about Spain, Ireland, Scotland, and maybe Morocco.
Oh how I love to travel! I've been to nearly 40 countries now and have visited about 15 of them on multiple occasions. I seriously live for travel (is it any wonder that I met my Australian fiance in China whilst en route back to Chicago after living in Australia and London for the previous four years?)
FI and I just went on a pre-wedding HM to New Zealand and we're now trying to sort out a trip for Christmas. Currently, it looks as though Fiji or Vanuatu will be our destination of choice but we shall see. I'm dying to get back to Africa and do a longer safari this time, now that I know I can camp and actually find it enjoyable, but tops on my list has to be Argentina! Hit Buenos Aires, travel through Patagonia down to Ushuaia, cross the Drake Passage and see the emperor penguins of Antarctica... ah, it sounds like heaven! And then I can check off all seven continents as well, although that's a minor point really ;-)
Our trip isn't as big, but we're going to Vermont this September and spending a few days in Canada, mostly the Montreal area. Then next year for our honeymoon, we're going to Hawaii and do some island hopping.
Went to Australia in Jan-Feb for our honeymoon, then went to San Diego at end of Feb and we are off to NYC in Sept for our 1 yr!
We are eventually planning on moving to England or someplace similar in Europe. I can't wait!
I'm not sure if it'll be our next trip or not, but I'm trying to convince FI to go back to Ghana with me sometime in the next year or so.
I spent the summer there between my sophomore and junior years in college and I'd love to go back to see the kids at the orphanage where I worked
Our next trip will be Costa Rica in August. We went to Italy on our honeymoon for two weeks and it was historically beautiful.
We are planning another trip early 2012 back to Europe. We haven't decided yet but I'm thinking Turkey or Greece. We might also squeeze in another trip to Thailand/Hong Kong the same year.
We are trying to get our travels in before family planning.
Those interested in traveling to California, there is so much to to do here, make sure you visit Napa Valley, SF, and Southern California.
Happy traveling all!
We're planning a big trip to New Zealand for our one year anniversary (actually 1.5 years, have to wait until it's summer there!) and we're holding off TTC until after that trip so it'll probably be our last big one for awhile.
FI and I are meeting in Thailand in October.
I have a stop over in Tokyo but not enough of one to leave the airport :(
