I haven't been in Tripadvisor for a few months, since we finalized all our details a while back and have been focusing on other things. Yesterday, though, I thought I'd relax a bit reading some recent traveler reviews of the resort, and to my surprise, there was a new award logo posted on our resort's Tripadvisor page!

Our honeymoon resort was voted the 2010 Top Hotel for Romance in the WORLD!

I'm not sure it's possible for us to get MORE excited about the trip there, but this definitely got me smiling a bit last night. I'm also glad we're going soon, because I bet this kind of honor will boost their popularity - and their prices!

Heres the list, you can browse other categories as well, and all were voted on by users of the site: http://www.tripadvisor.com/TravelersChoiceList-g1-cRomance

Oh, and our resort? The Hilton Moorea Lagoon Resort and Spa, in beautiful French Polynesia. :)

What about you, have you been to any of the hotels on this list? Do you agree with Tripadvisor? Anyone else planning travel to one of these spots?

PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE report back to us about your trip upon your return and let us know how fabulous it was! Congrats! (btw...i have TOTALLY been stalking TA for Moorea and Bora Bora honeymoon tips! Supposedly the BEST authentic polynesian dance show and buffet is at the Tiki Village...hope you're gonna check it out!) Have fun!

Hi date twin!  Looks like we are also honeymoon twins!  We will be staying at the Hilton Moorea for 3 nights before we go to Pearl Bora Bora!  I can't wait!  Are you going right away after the wedding?

    Have a wonderful time!

We just got back a couple of weeks ago from our honeymoon in that area, and it was such a romantic time.  We didn't stay at your hotel in Moorea, but we did visit it for one of our excursions, and it looked lovely.  I've heard it has excellent snorkeling as well.  I'd recommend renting a car for four hours or so and travelling around the island-- it was really fun when we did it.  The shark and ray excursion leaving from your hotel was really interesting, with a long scenic tour around the lagoon.  Lots of spinner dolphins around, and tons of blacktip reef sharks.  Tip: take TONS of suncream with you in your checked luggage-- it's incredibly expensive there, and you'll probably need lots, with all the glorious sun.

For the benefit of others reading: the Sofitel in Moorea is also amazing.  Beautiful overwater bungalows, and the beach and garden bungalows looked like they were huge and gorgeous as well.  Delicious food, nice entertainment,  great snorkeling right off the room, and friendly, unobtrusive service.  We stayed a few nights also at Le Taha'a Island Resort, which was absolutely amazing-- we loved every second of it.  It was just so private and romantic, and so relaxing!  We finished up the honeymoon with several more nights at the Intercontinental Thalasso Resort in Bora Bora, which was also incredible in every way.  If anyone has any questions about any of those resorts, just send me a PM.

@jhphi Thanks for the tips! We definitely plan on exploring the island, whether in a rental car or, if we feel adventurous, on a scooter. :) We'll be sure to take a ton of sunscreen, we will need it for sure. The shark and ray excursion sounds cool!

@MzMarzipan Oh how exciting! We leave immediately the day after the wedding for our honeymoon, but we're spending a couple of nights in Tahiti to start, and then our first night at the Hilton Moorea will be on Wednesday the 28th. Sounds like we'll just miss each other, but we'll have to compare notes and photos when we get back!

@pooks75 No problem, if you feel like it would be helpful then I can absolutely post a review with photos when we get back. I'll have to do something to fill the gap of time that I won't be using to do wedding prep. :) I should be doing more TA stalking for tips, I will check out the Tiki Village, thanks.

If anyone else has Moorea/French Polynesia tips and advice, FI and I would love to hear it, we always enjoy getting the most out of our vacations by following the inside scoop. Much appreciated!
