We are getting married October 26 of this year—where is warm weathered beautiful place to go in October?!
We hope to find somewhere where that we will be able to explore without being confined to an all-inclusive resort because it is too dangerous to leave the resort!
Between the two of us we have done US Virgin Islands, BVI’s, Costa Rica, Mexico, Bahamas and Jamaica. We hope to try somewhere new. Any suggestions?

Moorea/Bora Bora is wonderful in October, that’s when we were originally scheduled to go before we had to postpone to April of next year. But book your tickets asap, because it’s still high season there.

We got married last October and went to Antigua. It was amazing. We absolutely loved it there.

Thank you! I hadn’t thought of Bora Bora! It looks beauiful but it is a 12 hour flight from NC! wow!

I would avoid the Carribean… How about Hawaii?

@BrandNewBride: How come? Hurricane season? I was thinking considering caribbean because I have 7 days off from work and don’t want to spend too much of the trip on travel time.

Have you looked into Bonaire! We went a couple years ago and loved it. It’s in the southern part of the Caribean, so it’ll be beautiful weather. It’s a small, laid back island. Not where you want to go if you want to party all night. But if you like snorkeling or SCUBA, it’s the best reefs in the Caribean. And there is also great wind surfing. There are no giant hotels but there are tons of small hotels and restaurants and you can get tours all over the island. We drove the southern loop to see the sea salt production areas. And we did a horseback tour. Oh and there are wild donkeys all over the island! I really loved it. It’s more hippy/green/ecotourism/adventure kind of place than a sit on the beach and drink all day kind of place. But it’s got beautiful reefs and great food and it’s safe and easy to get around!

@JenG I haven’t heard of Bonaire until just a few minutes ago I randomly stumbled onto a site about it! It kind of sounds like how St. John was–which we love! 🙂
Does any one know anything about Dominica? Another place I haven’t heard much about! But seems great aside from the fact that it rains alot all year :/

- Wedding: November 2013 - St. Augustine Beach, FL
@Jkw102613: Do it but get trip insurance that specifically covers hurricanes for just in case. If there isn’t a hurricane, the weather in the Caribbean is great in the fall.

Love your wedding date We were thinking about going to the Caribbean for our honeymoon too, we were told that Aruba is out of the hurricane belt as well! Lots of people recommended Arbua to us. I think we’re going to have a small mini-moon after the wedding and then take our honeymoon in December so we can go anywhere in the Caribbean, we’re leaning towards Puerto Rico, Aruba, or St. Martin. AAA recommends not to do the Caribbean until after Hurrican season is over.

Aruba is out of the hurrican belt, we went there a few years ago in august. It is beautiful there. I highly recommend it. you can travel the entire island in a couple days by renting a car or just be satisfied by sitting on the beach snorkeling. feel free to PM if you have any questions about aruba.

We’re going to Puerto Vallarta, Mexico. We’re not staying at an all inclusive..there is so much to do in the city like food tours, zip linning, markets, and it doesn’t seem like it’s as touristy as Cancun. I booked on travelocity for less than $1500 for a Marriott hotel and flights for Monday-Sunday. I looked up the average temperatures and it should be like 75-80.

I agree with French Polynesia (Tahiti/Bora Bora). Absolutely fantastic for a honeymoon! Also Fiji, and SE Asia are good that time of year I believe. I think the Caribbean is in tropical storm season in October so I would avoid that area.

@Handful: Oh yes!! Antigua and Barbuda (pink sandy beaches)!!

October is still part of the dry season in Hawaii!
