What is your reason for wanting outside catering? Perhaps we could find a venue that has its own catering but works with what you want. And what's your budget?
@GreenEyedMoon:I was a cook when I lived in Dallas. There is a wonderful chef I used to work with that cut me a deal with our food. I also have celiac and I feel more comfortable using someone I have worked with before.
My goal is $2000 for the ceremony/reception site not including the deposit. I'm also planning on a Monday wedding to help with the cost.
@karmi126: I'm not exactly sure of the pricing, but you should check out the Trinity River Audubon Center. It's a beautiful nature preserve right in the middle of the city.
I'm getting married at Lofty Spaces in Dallas (with a Dallas address). It has an outdoor courtyard and then an indoor reception area.
How many people are you planning on inviting? A lot of the high rises condos/apartments have beautiful clubhouses that they rent out for things like this. I would call some of them and see what they say. Plus then you can bring your own caterer.
Have you tried the Filter Building at White Rock Lake? http://www.thefilterbuilding.com/ There is a list of approved caterers, which might or might not help--at least you have options! You could also look at Winfrey Point. I would probably try downtown for event spaces, also.
@dallasbride2012: Thanks for the tip! We will probably have at 100-150.
@pinkpaperbride: My BM lives right by the Filter Building and said she would check it out for me. Thanks!
I was totally going to say The Filter Building... although it's not like it's by public transportation really, so folks would have to drive to get there. Both Lofty Spaces and The Filter Building would require some sort of transportation to get there. That's really the case with most Dallas venues, unless you are doing a hotel wedding at the hotel most of your guests are going to be staying at.... hmmm... I'll try to think of some places that are within walking distance of a Dallas hotel. Or off of the DART rail line.
I would love to hear all of your suggestions as well! Please keep posting great DFW venues :)
My venue is the Hickory Street Annex. I dont think there is much availability for April anymore but its gorgeous and has a great outdoor area for a ceremony. I will be getting married inside because it will be 100+ degrees!
I am not sure what is close to public transportation besides the tower at city place but they do not have an outdoor ceremony area. Also, I dont think you want your family and friends riding around on the dart... It can be a little scary at times!

Hi Y'all!
I'm looking for a venue in Dallas that isn't crazy expensive and I can use my own caterer. About 75% of the venues listed on websites aren't actually in Dallas, but the surrounding area (And if you've been to Texas, you know how far that can be!) I'm trying to avoid having the majority of our guests rely on renting cars and it's not in our budget to provide transportation. I would prefer an outdoor ceremony, but I know I may not have the option of being picky! Any ideas???
