I haven't watched it before but I really really want to. I need to start from the beginning - hoping it is on netflix!
We're big fans of True Blood too. Got season 1 for Christmas last yr, caught up on season 2 on on demand while housesitting for a friend and subscribed to HBO specifically for this show once Season 3 started. I'm pretty over bill too and first I was hoping for a Sookie and Eric match but now we're wondering if Alcide and Sookie will hook up? Also dying to know what happens with Tara this week.. So many things going on- can't wait! We're also fans of Vampire Diaries on the CW but its not nearly as explicit and is on repeats til fall..
I'm trying to decide if I should start reading the books, or if that will ruin the show for me. Thoughts?
Also, for some reason, FH is all like "Eh, I'm not really feeling True Blood tonight." I'm like "WHAT????" I think I convinced him to watch it though...if not, he can kick it elsewhere while I salivate over Alcide, bc wow is he HOT. Seriously, Bill always freaked me out a bit. Werewolves - thta's where it's at!
I love the show and the books, but I don't have cable so I have to catch it when it comes out on DVD. That show sucks you in SO much- I nearly watched all of season 2 back-to-back!
HUGE Fan!! I look forward to it all week. I've been slightly disappointed with this season- still it's already much better than most of last. That Mary Ann story line was just...ugh. Looking forward to Eric getting back to his nasty self. He is my main man. ;)
@Miss BooBoo: I totally agree with you about the MaryAnn stoy line. I got over that real quick but am loving this season and how everything has started off a little faster than the slow starting previous seasons.
I LOVE True Blood. I want to start reading the books but I too am afraid it will ruin the show for me. I think that at the end of the season I will start reading the books.
Yay, True Blood fans! Regarding the books... I really don't feel they ruin the TV series. I'd give some examples, but I don't want to spoil the books for anyone! I will say, Tara plays a teeny role in the books, Lafayette is only in the first book, and Sam doesn't have a huge story line either. The first book follows the first season, same with the second... maybe try reading those, because if you've seen those seasons, you won't be learning anything new for this season :)
I actually kind of like reading the books because I feel like I understand what is going on a little more in depth. The show definitely keeps me guessing though!
Oh and what in the heck is with Sookie's little lightning bolt/flash hand thing?! She did that with Maryann last season and now with that bad werewolf that works for the king of Mississippi.... I can't wait for tonight!
LOVE IT!! one hour left! I got HBO specifically for True Blood...lol. I am readin the first book right now. I LOVE Tara's psycopath vampire he is hilarious! I was actually one of the few that actually watched the show all the way through when it aired and made everyone else jump on my bandwagon...including Teddy! So glad that the show caught on so well!
Yeah baby..one more hour. My FI got me watching it mid season 2. So i absolutely had to get caught up and watch both seasons on demand. so now that i'm watching it, FI hasn't watched one episode w/me yet. WTF! LOL! oh well, i'll just have some "me time" from 9-10pm on sundays! :)
I read the books and watch the show! Blueshoes2, we're on the same book! I got FI to start watching in the 2nd season, and he's been to all of the Twilight movies with me, so he's starting to see similarities (ie shifters running warm) and he's been coming up with all these theories about where the plot is going. It's so cute!
Wow, can't believe the preview for the rest of the season after today's show, it was awesome! Hoping Tara gets away ok, seems like she always gets the shaft.
@MrsMcGyro: My husband goes to the Twilight movies with me too (shhh he likes to keep that a secret). He's always getting into discussions with me over the differences between the Cullen and the True Blood vampires! lol
@sand dollar: I know, right?! That preview was craaazy, this season is looking to be intense!
Does anyone else find Sookie to be one of the most annoying characters on television? She's always screaming at someone to find Bill or screaming at people who are trying to help her. Tara is a close second.
@flamingred: Definitely - my husband cracks up because whenever Sookie comes into a scene I can usually guess her first line - of course it is usually 'Beeeeeeeell!' Haha. Her character is so much less annoying in the books though.
Also, I kept thinking how good Eric looked in the baby blue cashmere sweater and when he was all bloody at Sophie Anne's I was like, nooooooooooooo - he ruined the sweater!
I love True Blood! Unfortunately I'm going to have to wait on seeing this season until it comes out on DVD since we don't have HBO. I can't wait to see Eric again- he is HOT! Now I just need to get my FI hooked on the series too. :)
Um I love True Blood! I could not BELIEVE last night's episode. My fb status reads right now, "Seriously True Blood? WTF??? Things got taken to a whole new level..." LOL That episode was nuts. Can it be Sunday at 9 again please!
I really have to separate the books from the show in my head. IMO the books are much better - but the show is a lot of fun, too! We don't have a TV, so I always have to wait until it goes online, so I'm not totally up to date.
I watch True Blood and have read all the books so far--just finished Dead in the Family. The books are much better than the show but the show is pretty fun to watch. I got my husband into the show but we didn't watch the first two seasons while they were airing--we got them on Blu Ray. We have been watching the third season so far and it's been pretty good so far. There are quite a few difference between the show and the books, though. And last season with the whole Maryann thing was pretty weird--not a big fan of that storyline. I kept thinking ok, when is this thing going to be done with?.
@flamingred: Yes!!!!! FI got me watching True Blood after he watched a few of the first season then called it quits because he thought it was dumb, then suggested we try again starting in season 2 when we ran out of episodes in the last tv show we watched. And we both totally agree that Sookie is super-obnoxious--AND boring. They'd better start giving her a little more intrigue, like explaining what her magical electric hand power is and how it has affected her life, or something. And Tara...jeez. She has moments when she's a good character, I think, but both FI and I usually find her really obnoxious as well!
I keep going back on forth on this show. I have *never* found the sex on True Blood to be the least bit sexy. I always find it gross. What about the rest of you? Am I nuts? I hear so many people say the show is popular mainly because of the sex and gore, but I don't really care for either aspect (I HATE seeing blood, and fake TV blood all over the places along with maiming and other such things is no exception. though I did enjoy when Bill threw the lamp or whatever it was at Lorena ;).
I haven't seen this week's episode yet, probably will watch it tonight, because like lilyfaith, we don't have a TV and rely on the internet for our shows...
I just started watching season 2.
My friends and I are in a conversation right now about who the hottest guy on the show is. I don't get the big deal over Eric. I think that Sam is WAY hotter.
Bill isn't sexy at all.
Agreed danadelphia, I think Sam is the hottest guy on True Blood, followed by Alcide, who is much hotter when he gets rid of the redneck facial hair (sorry not my thing!). I have to say that Eric's viking flashbacks are my favorite part of the show though...just because I'm a nerd like that. But hot? Nah. Jason is good looking, but the way the show has him play so dumb really kills it for me. Sadly, a lot of people say FI looks like Bill, but I don't find Bill hot in the least, while I do find FI to be the sexiest man ever. Heh.
Religiously watch the show, and have read the whole series!!! I was always team Eric (that may be because FI is named Eric, but my reasoning doesn't count)
@Blueshoes2:You asked about the hand/light thing? I'm pretty sure its in reference to some of Sookie's olderdistant relatives, if you know what I mean.
@Saeliz: Are we facebook friends? I feel like I read that on a status feed, and I am from Boston....weird!

It's almost time for my favorite part of Sunday night! I'm fairly new to this series... I got caught up on all of seasons 1 and 2 this summer, while reading the Sookie Stackhouse books (I'm on the 6th one). My husband has been watching True Blood since the first season, and now I'm obviously hooked too! I think this season is really good so far. I'm so over Bill, team Eric for me, haha.
Anyone else watch the show or read the books?
