that's funny! i wonder if it'll have the same effect on my dog. he's very independent, and will sometimes lay next to me but if i pet him for too long he'll bite. he's a little weird.
I completely agree on the bodily functions.
Also, I love how I can sometimes blame hormones for my emotional moments. I once watched all 3 LOTR movies in a row and cried every single time Frodo almost died (even though I've seen them multiple times). I secretly blamed it on hormones since I was by myself and was able to laugh it off. Same thing with watching Season 4 episode 1 of LOST yesterday.
And when I have weird cravings, I can blame it on pregnancy too. So if I want both sour punch straws and white chocolate, I have an excuse.
I didn't know about the cat cuddling, but I'll try it out this week. I'm going to see her for the first time in 6 months. Haha, I miss her like crazy.
I loved being pregnant because my husband didn't say a word when I ate chocolate pudding every day for 3 solid months.
The biggest joy of pregnancy though-- my beautiful daughter. She has made my life better in a million ways.
I loved the feeling of power that comes with being pregnant - the amazing, mind boggling, crazy, intense process of creating life is just... Wow. Fabulous stuff.
And hey - being waited on hand and foot isn't bad either
I am a foodie so I love how intensely good food tastes.
I enjoyed the naps at first. I like how the Moms at work take care of me by making sure I've eaten and not letting me lift things.
I love just sitting with my hand on my belly and trying to picture whats going on inside, picturing the baby and daydreaming about he/she as they get older.
My favorite thing about being pregnant though, which I just remembered, was during my third trimester when the baby was super super active and I could actually see her moving across my belly. Nothing like those first glimpses of the outline of her head or foot.
Mighty Sapphire- Did I miss an announcement here? I don't have you on the list... When are you due and congratulations?!
Oh and I love being pregnant for the overwhelming sense of well-being that I'm experiencing and for being able to feel the baby Lemon move all the time. It's so sweet!
Oh! I thought I had put this out! Sorry DG! Yes, I'm pregnant! I'm due May 23rd!
It's been a little rough going, but now it's starting to get better!
Yay!!! Congrats... We're very close in due dates :) I'll put you on the list!
I adore this thread!
-I love the little feet I can feel poking up in my ribs. I know it will get worse as time goes on, but right now it's so fun to poke and feel the baby poke back!
-I love that I always have something to talk about with people now. Default = when are you due, boy or girl, etc etc. It gets old to answer the same questions over and over, but no more stressing about what to talk about when I meet new people.
-I love being told I am "glowing". Both men and women say it and it's SO sweet.
-I love when my husband reaches over and absentmindedly rests his hand on my belly.
-I love the look on my husbands face two nights ago when I was lying on my side and I reached over and grabbed his hand and shoved it in between my belly and the mattress. He was stunned and exclaimed "I can really feel something squirming around in there!"
-Everyone is so ridiculously nice to me. I've never been as adored as I currently am (and I secretly can't get enough!)
-I love planning for something once again. I look forward to the birth day even more than I did my wedding day!
So far (still first trimester) I just love the excitement my husband and I are sharing about this huge new chapter in our life! and how he is even more loving and caring than normal - since I am doing all the hard work making the baby, he does anything he can to help out!
Chocolate cake for breakfast every morning!!
Feeling the baby move is the most amazing feeling. I love to put the flashlight on my belly and move it so the baby follows it!!
I get to wear flip flops and Uggs all the time for my poor feet.
All the preperation: washing and folding the baby clothes and blankies, setting up the nursery area, cleaning everything!!
And everyone's willingness to help out and share in the excitement!
I love that my husband brings me breakfast in bed every morning. And I love how much closer we have gotten to each other. It's really amazing to rely so completely on someone else (like when you have unbearable morning sickness for months on end) and have that person come through for you. :) It just made us so much closer.
I also love that I have an awesome excuse to do nothing on weekends except relax, nap, and eat. ;)
I love seeing the baby on ultrasounds and hearing its heartbeat. It is such a moving experience to see/hear that little person inside of me. What a surpise!
Awwwww! Im not anywhere close to being pregnant, but I love this thread!
I loved being pregnant because feeling your baby move is the best thing ever. I loved knowing that someone needs me and is dependant on me and loved me from the second he took his first breath. I love being a mom. The first time you hold your new baby in your arms and they are so tiny and warm and soft, and they nuzzle in. Undescriable feeling. And now, hes 2, and when he comes into our room with a nightmare and just wants us to hold him and cuddle up between us. Its an amazing feeling.
I am getting married next year. For the past month, I have had this immense feeling of wanting to get pregnant. I am still in college, almost done! but I have this huge clock in my face saying lets have a baby. I am only 25 but for some reason feel my clock ticking. Seeing this thread only made it worse! haha
Congrats to all you soon to be mommies! so happy for you!
I'm not sure if I am alone on this but I love watching my belly grow.
I also LOVE reading about how big baby is each week and what's going on during that particular time in its life. Most importantly, I love knowing that we have created something so miraculous and that I cannot wait to be a mother. I think that trumps any pain or suffering pregnancy can bring along with it!
I thought of another one!
I love being pregnant because my husband thinks it is the SEXIEST thing ever! He can't keep his hands off me!
@MightSapphire - I LOVE that too :). In the beginning of the pregnancy when it was a little rough and I was adjusting to my new body shape, my hubby had mentioned how beautiful I had looked. I had one of those awe moments :)
My only problem now is that he is suffering from a herniated disc so he has been nursing that but wait until he gets his shot on Friday... Look out :)
it's amazing how much they change each week or even every day...love reaching that new milestone of the weekly ticker!
my dogs are also more cuddly, and my husband thinks I look super sexy...he also is normally the most laid back dude in the world, but he'll just start grinning ridiculously when he thinks about me having a baby growing in my belly!
usually I totally plan wayyyy in advance, but I've been kind of enjoying each thing as it comes and giving myself a break until the 2nd trimester to do "future research" for now, I'm just focusing on taking the best care of myself in *this phase/week
I know this is a really selfish one, but maybe some other wallflowers will understand...
I love that when you mention you are pregnant to a group of people you suddenly become the center of attention and the most precious thing ever. They give up their seats, they ooh and aah, they ask if they can get you anything. I'll tell you, in my profession, that was refreshing!
Ok so I keep double clicking the submit button and putting in two entries...grr. I've gotten a bit uncoordinated! So I'll edit this to...
Yes, I think it works on dogs too. My dog is suddenly insanely jealous of the cats and ANYONE else that gets near me. It's like "That's MY mommy!" It's cute until it's annoying.

In light of reading the scary about why it sucks to be pregnant, I thought I'd start a fun one for why you're happy that you are, or the benefits that come with pregnancy!
I love being pregnant because I can ask for seconds and no one shames me about it.
I love being pregnant because I get to park closer to the front of the stores (we have Stork parking).
I love being pregnant because I can blame nearly every fart, belch, or other bodily function on the baby and suddenly it's less offensive.
I love being pregnany because my cats suddenly LOVE to cuddle with me!
Anyone else?
