So I made a previous post about my DIY projects that I had instore for this weekend.

Photo #1>The first photo is everything I bought this weekend and got it all for about $100. There are 5 vases/bowls for my candy buffet, Each one was no more than $3 because I got them at numerous thrift stores. There is scrapbooking paper, clay pots and bottoms for my Cake Stand, a card box, 3 different types of paint, pearl beads, really neat invites that I got at the thrift store, Martha Stewart tags for the candy buffet and glue.

Photo #2The next photo is my finished cake stand made out of the clay pots and bottoms. I will post more about how to do it on my blog.

Photo #3The last photo is my finished hat box. It is a darker purple than what the photo shows. I'm not sure how I feel about it but we will see if it grows on me.

It feels so good to finally be doing something for our wedding! Even though we have a year and a month left.

Nice! You might stencil a damask shape onto the front of the card box for some interest, or maybe some vertical stripes... something... it's just very flat right now. Maybe you can put your initials in a script font on the front of it... or paint over some doilies and remove the doilies for interesting shapes!

That's a brilliant idea you have for the cake stands, what a cheap and easy idea for a cake stand!

love the cake stand and completely agree with the pp for the damask and/or vertical stripes, although it is very cute. you could also perhaps stack another box with it to give it a bit more height.  also have you seen the damask packing tape from the ctr store?  that may be cool to wrap around the bottom of it.

You should post the cake stands and your directions to the DIY section!  That could be really helpful to other brides out there!!

Thanks for the tips...to be honest I have no idea what a damask shape is...however the stripes could work. What do you think about using some sort of ribben. I was going to put ribben over around the edge of the top.

As for the cake stands...I am working on some posts for it, but they're not quite done yet. I would like to put a little ribbon or something around the edge of it...but I'm starting to like the clean lines. I got the idea and DIY here and found other really good ideas there.

I did my blog tonight where I wrote a DIY post with pictures and steps.

I did try to put it up on the DIY section here but it is still being processed I guess.

    Hope you all enjoy!
