Have fun! Dress shopping is supposed to be exciting.  My only advice is to try more than ballgowns.  You never know what you’ll love.

Totally normal! Relax and have fun! Try on several styles to see what you like. Enjoy! I had a blast.

Just relax. It will be fun!! Be prepared to love some dresses that end up not looking great on your figure, of course. Also try on some things you might have turned off. I was adamant about not wanting strapless #1 because I hate my shoulders (personal paranoia) and #2 I am always afraid of having to adjust. I ended up getting a beautiful Oleg Cassini Strapless gown and I can’t stop looking at the dress lol. The picture online I didn’t like but it was great on me. So just go in with an open mind and you will find something! Good luck!

It is a lot of fun! I had a wide range of emotions bcs my family was coming in to town and I hadn’t seen them since May (way before I got engaged).
I actually didn’t feel like going, then was all nervous, then was angry with the sales girl bcs she wasn’t behaving like the ones on tv… How silly of me!

I also always wanted a ball gown, I’m getting married at a very princessy place, and the ballgowns looked stunning in person but not in pictures. I have a very hourglass shape, and they made me look wide, fit and flares looked the best because they showed off my shape.

Try a number of styles and narrow it down the styles that look best on you and take pictures! I fell in love with this really ornate gown but it didn’t translate in photos, it looked like a big ruffle mess!

Good luck and show us what you liked!

Totally normal! I was a sweaty ball of nerves when I tried on dresses. I agree with PPs definitely try on a little bit of everything. I just knew I wanted lace and did NOT want a satin dress at all! I ended up with a satin dress without a drop of lace on it, and I couldn’t be happier.

Just have fun, and be sure and eat a good breakfast that day. Trying on a bunch of wedding dresses can be a real workout. Good luck!

Oh, and pictures don’t do a lot of dresses justice. Have the consultant pick a few that she thinks will look good on you. It’s their job to know what will look good on different body types.

I felt the same way and was looking for the same style dress! I swear I was having heart palpitations right before walking into the salon lol. But don’t worry it will be a fun and amazing experience!

Yay, that is so exciting! I just had my first trip last weekend and I can definitely sympathise with you about being nervous. I was so scared that everything would look horrid on me and that the one dress I had in mind wouldn’t look good. I decided to suck it up and go in with an open mind so I tried on the dress that I had seen and wanted to try and then I tried on a bunch of other dresses that were in all different styles. I kept comparing everything to the first and I ended up picking it!

All in all, it was fun and I had a great experience. Wedding dresses are made to make you look amazing – seriously. I wish I could wear a wedding dress every day lol. I looked better than what I had imagined.

I was super nervous, too, every single time I had an appointment! I just felt so stressed that I wasn’t going to find anything I liked, but at the same time stressed that I might find too many dresses and not be able to choose. And I was nervous about having to say I didn’t like a dress (as if the consultant would be offended or something). And then I was nervous about feeling pressured to buy.

But truly, after it was all said and done, I had nothing to be worried about! The consultants I had were all super sweet and didn’t make me feel pressured and weren’t offended when I didn’t like something. I’m still glad my dress shopping is over with because I hate clothing shopping in general.

The best thing for me was being able to take pictures because I found that my opinions totally changed seeing how a dress looked on me in a photo compared to the mirror.

@anni_bride:  I love Pronovias! My dress is the Pergola. I hope it ends up being all you wanted it to be!!! Love the site, gorgeous.

@anni_bride:  Yes I did! I plan on wearing it for the ceremony. 🙂 I just looked up Domingo and they’re both very similar – you have great taste haha
